JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary:

The Dispatcher in Nisku, Alberta is responsible for day-to-day operations of customer service and workload for their employees by scheduling, training, safety and promoting Company policies and procedures.

Duties and Activities:

  • Respond to requests for transportation services and document these requests in the Daily Log Record. Enquire about additional and future services required, promote Tuboscope Transportation's ability to perform those services.
  • Actively look for other work not directly related to original request including: Upcoming projects, Backhauls, New clients.
  • Be familiar with the provisions of all legislation and regulations affecting the operations of the Transportation Department.
  • Ensure that properly trained personnel and appropriate equipment are assigned to complete requested transportation services.
  • Ensure that all employees under dispatcher's supervision are familiar with all Company Policies and Procedures affecting the operations of the Transportation Department.
  • Coordinate personnel and equipment and provide support arrangements required for the successful completion of the load, job or project.
  • Ensure that the Daily Log Record is properly updated throughout the day.
  • Review all appropriate documentation from field staff for quality, non-conformance or errors.
  • Interview Drivers and Customers for performance and continuous improvement opportunities. Document and forward to Dispatch Manager.
  • Promote, endorse and participate in all Company Safety Programs. Attend/facilitate Safety Meetings. Frequently review all safety meeting minutes. Set a notable example in personal safety conduct.
  • Ensure that employees are aware of all known or reasonably foreseeable health or safety hazards in the area they will work.
  • Take whatever steps are necessary to investigate, document and follow-up on incidents and ensure that computer records pertaining to Incident Records are maintained.
  • Ensure the equitable distribution of available hours to drivers and swampers.
  • Participate in training programs when required to do so by the Company.
  • Closely monitor the activities of all drivers to ensure that the Hours of Service and Pre/Post Trip Regulations are complied with at all times.
  • Conduct a daily review of Driver's Daily Logs and input results into appropriate computer programs.
  • Ensure that records are maintained of all training provided to transportation employees, and that this information is recorded in the employee's Driver's file and appropriate computer files. Review expiry dates of training frequently and schedule renewal training.
  • Monitor load securement for loaded trucks leaving and entering storage yard.
  • Conduct daily observations / inspections of drivers, equipment, and procedures.
  • Ensure that all paperwork is finished, including:
    • Initial Work Ticket, Field Level Risk Assessment/Job Hazard Analysis (FLRA/JHA) is completed and reviewed.
    • Returning paperwork from Driver is complete and professional.
    • Final invoicing is complete in a timely manner.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Qualification & Role Requirements:

  • Transportation industry experience (Minimum 2-5 years).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Familiarity with MS office and related computer programs
  • Be knowledgeable regarding the Company's Policies and Procedures affecting the operations of the Transportation Department.
  • Knowledgeable regarding all Regulatory requirements regarding Transportation and Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Ensure the Health and Safety of all employees under direct Supervision and meeting all regulatory requirements.
  • Report non-conformances, investigated, recommendations are acted upon and follow-up is done.
  • Ensure that employees' competence meet the requirements of the jobs/tasks assigned with highest standards of Customer service.
  • Be dedicated to ongoing learning and continuous improvement in all areas of professional service to our employees, to our customers and to the company.

  • Satisfactory completion of the Company's orientation Training
  • Accident/Incident Investigation
  • WCB Claims Management
  • Job Hazard Analysis Training

  • WHMIS and TDG (Company specific training provided)


HSE Requirements:

  • When required, all mandatory personal protective clothing and equipment must be used, cared for and maintained as per company PPE policy.
  • All duties must be performed in a safe manner.
