Procurement Director

Location: Atyrau, Kazakhstan

An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced Procurement Director to lead a dynamic procurement function within a forward-thinking organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing strategic sourcing initiatives, optimising supplier performance, driving operational efficiencies, and ensuring the procurement strategy aligns with overall business objectives.

This is a pivotal leadership role requiring a hands-on, strategic professional who can develop and implement procurement best practices, deliver cost savings, and support innovation across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and direct the procurement team to meet business objectives and deliver best-in-class sourcing strategies
• Develop and implement comprehensive procurement strategies for materials and services portfolios
• Monitor market conditions, price trends, and future market developments to inform procurement decisions
• Identify and drive metrics, tools, and processes to optimise sourcing and supplier activities
• Deliver on operating cash flow and working capital plans for assigned materials and services
• Work closely with internal teams to support the launch of innovations and new product or service developments
• Ensure consistency and standardisation across all procurement activities
• Establish measurable goals and continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement function
• Enhance procurement capabilities through process development, technology adoption, and system improvements
• Oversee supplier rationalisation to meet evolving business requirements
• Build and maintain cost reduction and value improvement plans for key spend areas
• Design and implement transactional strategies and automation goals for Procure-to-Pay processes
• Provide strategic advice on procurement strategies, approaches, and requirements at the executive level
• Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners, and executive leadership to align procurement initiatives with business needs

   

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline
• Master's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field is preferred
• Minimum 8 years' working experience, with at least 5 years in a senior procurement leadership position
• Previous experience in the GCC region is an advantage
• Comprehensive knowledge of procurement principles, regulations, and strategic sourcing best practices
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities
• Advanced negotiation skills, with a proven track record of delivering cost savings and value improvements
• Strong analytical abilities to assess supplier performance and identify process improvement opportunities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in ERP systems, ideally with SAP functional skills
• Ability to work collaboratively and influence senior stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to drive procurement innovation and continuous improvement
