The Role
You will be tasked with offering your expertise in quantitative commodity trading models developed by the Analytics team. The insights and analyses produced will enhance decision-making throughout the broader ANZ organization.
Responsibilities include leading the creation of quantitative models for valuing OTC and electricity option contracts, collaborating with the Forward Trading and Origination teams to develop and implement models and tools that aid trading decisions, and working closely with the Head of Analytics or Head of Forward Power Trading on complex tasks with minimal guidance.
You will also be responsible for defining analytical requirements for significant projects, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality analytical work, and maintaining regular communication regarding project status with the Head of Analytics or Head of Forward Trading.
Additionally, you will provide innovative solutions to emerging challenges alongside the Head of Analytics and Principal Analyst, while proactively proposing new analytics initiatives and mentoring junior team members.

Qualifications & Education
  • Tertiary degree in Quantitative Finance or other relevant discipline
  • Experience developing models to value non-standard financial products and commodity structured products
  • Proven ability to develop and run quantitative models to support commodity trading, including option valuation models
  • Proficient in technical and programming skills such as SQL, Microsoft Excel, and coding in Python or C#
  • Strong statistical skills in the collection, organization, analysis, and interpretation of numerical data
  • Excellent analytical thinker and problem solver, adept at creating innovative models, tools, and techniques through experimentation
  • Demonstrated project leadership and experience mentoring junior team members
