JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking an accomplished Subject Matter Expert (SME) - Geotechnical Engineer with extensive experience in Saudi Aramco projects and a minimum of 20 years of professional practice in the Oil & Gas, energy, and industrial sectors. The ideal candidate will provide expert advice, lead geotechnical design reviews, risk assessments, and ensure full compliance with Saudi Aramco engineering standards and project requirements.

You will play a critical leadership role in project planning, execution, and troubleshooting complex geotechnical challenges across various facilities including plants, pipelines, offshore platforms, and industrial infrastructures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the technical authority on all geotechnical engineering matters across multiple projects.
  • Develop Geotechnical Scopes of Work, Review, validate, and approve geotechnical investigation reports, foundation designs, piling works, and ground improvement solutions.
  • Ensure strict compliance with Saudi Aramco standards (SAES, SAEP, SAMSS) and relevant international codes (ASTM, BS, API, ISO).
  • Lead site-specific geotechnical risk assessments, soil-structure interaction studies, and seismic hazard evaluations.
  • Support design and construction teams by providing recommendations on foundation types, slope stability, dewatering, ground settlement, and soil remediation.
  • Conduct forensic investigations and root-cause analysis of geotechnical failures or anomalies.
  • Liaise with Saudi Aramco Project Management Teams (PMTs), consultants, and contractors to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Provide expert input during FEED, Detailed Design, EPC, and construction phases.
  • Contribute to the preparation and technical review of tender documents, technical specifications, and project execution plans.
  • Mentor junior engineers and lead knowledge transfer initiatives within the organization.
  • Represent the company in technical workshops, audits, and meetings with Aramco and third parties.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or equivalent (Master's/Ph.D. preferred).
  • Minimum of 20 years' experience in geotechnical engineering with at least 10 years focused on Oil & Gas or industrial projects.
  • Direct experience working with or for Saudi Aramco projects.
  • Deep knowledge of Saudi Aramco Geotechnical and Civil Engineering Standards and Best Practices.
  • Proficient in geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio, SETTLE3D, LPILE, SLOPE/W, gINT, etc.
  • Extensive experience with soil investigation methodologies, laboratory testing, geophysical surveys, and geotechnical construction techniques.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage and resolve high-risk geotechnical challenges efficiently under tight project schedules.


Preferred Skills:

  • Chartership or Professional Engineering License (e.g., P.E., C.Eng., P.Eng.).
  • Offshore geotechnical experience (foundations for jackets, pipelines, etc.) is an added advantage.
  • Experience with large-scale Oil & Gas projects (onshore terminals, refineries, mega industrial complexes).
