Summary:
The Nuclear Cardiology Technologist has ability to perform a nuclear cardiology testing on patients, the knowledge to handle, inject and record the use of radionuclides within Radiation Safety and the NRC/DEP and DOT guidelines and the ability to scan and process studies using nuclear cameras and equipment.
Accountabilities
• Accurate calculation, recording, and injection of radiopharmaceuticals.
• Skillfully acquire and process nuclear scans.
• Knowledge and ability to QC and use all nuclear equipment - hot lab, cameras, etc.
• Comply with all regulations - NRC, DEP, DOT, JCAHO, infection control, universal precautions.
• Ability to respond efficiently and correctly in an emergency situation.
• Observes patients during procedure and while in the department and reports any unusual occurrences to appropriate
personnel
• Ability to position, scan, and process patients/studies on all nuclear equipment. Performs quality control on all equipment
and notifies manager when issues arrive.
• Assists the providers in the reading of the nuclear studies and administration of these pharmaceutical stress agents
• IV's placement using proper techniques and precautions.
• Participates and performs research studies when required
• Assists with supply management (ordering, unpacking, and storing)
Minimum Requirements:
• H.S. Diploma/GED required
• 2+ years experience in nuclear cardiology/nuclear medicineAccurate calculation, recording, and injection of radiopharmaceuticals required
• Associate's Degree medical/health care related subject preferred
• Graduate of a Nuclear Medicine training Program
• CNMT and/or ARRT(N) certification required
• American Heart CPR certificatiion required
Essential Skills and or Abilities:
Ability to communicate technical information and ideas
Demonstrated interpersonal/verbal communication skills
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from others
Demonstrated interpersonal/verbal communication skills
Ability to place IVs in patients using proper techniques and precautions
Ability to straight-stick a patient, calculate and inject isotopes properly, acquire and process scans appropriately
Ability to quality control nuclear equipment
Knowledge of NRC, State, DOT, and JCAHO rules and regulations and ability to comply with all
