We are currently seeking a Senior Piping Materials Engineer to join our Mechanical Engineering team based in London or Milton Keynes.

A Senior Piping Materials engineer (staff) is required for major energy transition, olefins, refinery and petrochemical projects located in both domestic and international markets.
The role requires previous experience and knowledge in piping materials associated with oil and gas projects with an understanding/experience of the activities and deliverables to execute project work.
You will be working independently in your field of piping materials and be required to lead the development of piping materials selection, pipe class specification development, and piping material estimates to execute scopes of work through Pre FEED, FEED and EPC projects.
Based in our Milton Keynes or London office with potential for travel globally, the role will require an initial period of training to be undertaken in Paris.

Role responsibilities include:
- Responsible for the development and delivery of piping materials specifications and piping material class specifications on Pre-FEED, FEED and EPC projects in accordance with the project scope of work.
- Responsible for carrying out piping material take offs and managing and controlling bill of quantity of materials through all project phases for estimating and procurement activities.
- Responsible for qualitative analysis of piping material take off.
- Responsible for the development of piping material specifications and datasheets in accordance with relevant codes and standards applicable to the project. (e.g., ASME, BS, NACE).
- Responsible for calculating and determining pipe wall thickness and flange ratings.
- Responsible for establishing piping branch tables.
- Responsible for the development and delivery of valve datasheets.
- Responsible for the development and delivery of technical specifications for supply of piping.
- Responsible for the development and delivery of Piping material requisitions.
- Responsible for technical bid evaluation and technical selection of vendors.
- Responsible for the review and checking of vendor documentation to comply with project requirements.
- Able to provide input and assist with development of material selection diagrams.
- To develop welding, fabrication, NDE procedures.
- Provide technical piping material expertise and recommendations to all associated parties on a project.
- Present and explain technical issues to clients, vendors and other project stakeholders in a clear and articulate manner.
- Adhere to discipline and corporate procedures, policies and standards and provide feedback and further develop where applicable for continuous improvement.
- Lead the execution of piping materials works in multi office environments perform reviews and comment on their work.
- Provide discipline input to project proposals.
- Prepare and check engineering procedures and standards.
- Preparing and checking of;
- Piping material specification and index and detailed line classes
- Piping material take-offs
- Piping material Bill of Quantities
- Valve data sheets
- Requisitions
- Technical bid evaluations
- Material input for cost estimates
- Provide input to construction Sub-contracts and evaluate bids.
About you:
- Mechanical engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
- Experience in onshore piping materials for petrochemical plants.
- Must be able to demonstrate previous Pre-FEED, FEED and EPC experience.
- Previous experience as a piping materials engineer.
- Experience in selection, development and delivery of piping material specifications.
- Knowledge of piping material standards European, American and International standards applicable to the petrochemical industry.
- Experienced in performing material take-off either from model or from general arrangements.
- Experienced in the management and control of materials used for the development of material estimates, requisitions, and procurement activities.
- Experience of developing specifications, procedures, work instructions.
- Strong communication skills include being tactful and articulate.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience of leading multi-office projects.
- Self-motivated to move projects forward.
- Willing and motivated to learn and support other engineers in other project activities.
- Experienced in Microsoft office applications.
- Be available to travel in the UK and overseas for training, meetings, site visits and inspections to meet project and department requirements.
Desirable Experience / Qualifications include:
- Experience in using piping materials management software e.g. Smart Materials.
- Experience in using 2D CAD software AutoCAD and/or MicroStation and production of 2D layout drawings.
- Experience in use of 3D CAD software and 3D model development using E3D and S3D.
- Competent in carrying out stress calculations using industry recognized software.
- Modularization experience.
- Membership of appropriate engineering institution.
- Site experience.
- UK project experience.
- Experience in energy transition projects.
