Idaho Power - located in vibrant Boise, Idaho - is looking for a Technical Skills Trainer - Thermal Power Plants to join our Skills Training Center team. It's an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. A Thermal Power Plant Technical Skills Trainer will continue to create and develop training content covering proper methods of installation, testing, repair, and maintenance of equipment for power plant facilities. 80% of this position will be program development and 20% administrative task and hands on training.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Position consists of training operators and maintenance technicians. This job will require occasional, physically strenuous work for long periods of time and in adverse conditions. Job requires the ability to bend, stoop, squat, crouch, crawl, climb into and out of vehicles, twist, kneel, balance, reach, and climb multiple flights of stairs. Occasionally lifting items weighing 75 lbs. shoulder height and above; occasionally lifting items weighing up to 100 lbs. waist high and knee high. Occasionally using exertional force up to 50 lbs. to push/pull cable, etc.; Occasionally carrying items weighing up to 100 lbs. with two hands and occasionally carrying items weighing up to 75 lbs. with one hand. Requires the ability to operate a vehicle. Must be able to grasp and hold simple hand tools and testing equipment and use fine motor skills to use a computer keyboard, test equipment, and replace parts. Applicant must be able to perform the essential functions of the job without posing a direct threat of harm to self, others, or property. The above is a summary of the primary essential functions of the position. This job may require the performance of additional tasks assigned by company leaders or management. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Most of the time will be spent developing training content for future training courses. Will require some travel within the Idaho Power Company service area with occasional overnight stays. Occasionally perform duties outside normal working hours.
Temporary employees are eligible to apply for internal job postings. Internal, regular employees who are successful candidates will be placed as regular employees in a Temporary Duty Assignment job classification. In order for your current position to be held for your return, qualified employees must have supervisory approval to participate and have been in their current position for at least six months.

- All phases of power plant operations and maintenance
- Company's safety programs
- Presentation techniques and adult learning methods
Skills in:
- The use of personal computers including applications such as Microsoft Office and time-entry software
- Strong interpersonal and professional communication
- Organizational documentation and record keeping
Ability to:
- Perform basic arithmetic calculations
- Coordinate with several departments and personnel effectively
- Express oneself verbally in a teaching environment
- Meet deadlines
- Operate heavy equipment, personal protective equipment, two- and four-wheel drive vehicles, all-terrain vehicles, and snowmobiles
- Demonstrate proper work techniques and procedures
- Instruct and give presentations
- Determine training needs
- Perform vehicle inspections and be responsible for scheduled maintenance
- Participate in ongoing training/development which may require travel outside the Idaho Power Company service territory with occasional overnight stays
- Occasionally perform duties outside normal working hours
- Maintain an excellent safety record
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- High school diploma or GED
Experience:
- Certificate of completion of a training program that is recognized by the Office of Apprenticeship (OA) or equivalent, including at least 5 years of relevant work experience in power plant operations and/or maintenance, with 3 years of journey-level experience
Preferred:
- Previous skills training experience
- Experience as both a Journeyman Generation Technician and Journeyman Generation Specialist
Licenses & Certifications:
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position
- Must obtain First Aid/CPR card within 90 days
