Essential Job Functions:
  • Knowledge of all tools, equipment and skills necessary for the complete installation of projects common to the HVAC sheet metal industry.
  • Possession of the tools as required by the company.
  • Submit daily job progress reports to supervisors as required.
  • Responsible for imputing on ordering stock or fabricated materials as far in advance as possible either personally or through site foreman to ensure completion of assigned tasks.
  • Responsible for helping with the physical jobsite organization and housekeeping to ensure a safe professional work area.
  • Responsible for safe operation and maintenance of company equipment as well as monitoring the use and timely return of rented equipment.
  • Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products and equipment, such as ducts, control boxes, drainpipes, and furnace casings. Work may involve any of the following: setting up and operating fabricating machines to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal; shaping metal over anvils, blocks, or forms using hammer operating soldering and welding equipment to join sheet metal parts, inspecting, assembling, and smoothing seams and joints of burred surfaces.
  • Install assemblies, such as flashing, pipes, tubes, heating and air conditioning ducts, furnace casings, rain gutters, and down spouts, in supportive frameworks.
  • Select gauges and types of sheet metal or non-metallic material, according to product specifications.
  • Drill and punch holes in metal for screws, bolts and rivets.
  • Fasten seams and joints together with welds, bolts, cement, rivets, solder, caulks, metal drive clips, and bonds in order to assemble components into products or to repair sheet metal items.
  • Fabricate or later parts at construction sites, using shears, hammers, punches and drills.
  • Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff, and smooth surfaces, seams, and joints of assembled parts, using hand tools and portable power tools.
  • Maintain equipment, making repairs and modifications when necessary.
  • Maneuver completed units and ducts into position for installation and anchor the units.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy and safe worksite at all times.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Daily work activities include: sitting, kneeling, climbing, squatting, crawling, and ascending and descending ladders and scaffolding constantly throughout the work day.
  • Responsible for obtaining and maintaining necessary licensing/certification for performing work in areas where such is required.
  • Responsible for instruction and on the job training of crew members which includes emphasis on safety.
  • Responsible for maintaining knowledge of local/national codes and industry standards. Ensure that all necessary inspections are made through all phases of work.
  • Support the total quality effort. Identify and respond to the needs of internal and external customers 100% of the time.
  • Work within the guidelines of the safety and employee policy.

  • Regular and predictable attendance is expected in order to meet the requirements of this position
  • Wear assigned PPE at all times while on the job site.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • 4-year certificate or 4 years of field experience
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of sheet metal, construction practice and safety procedures
  • Working knowledge of all relevant national and local codes and company and industry standards.
  • Must possess and maintain licenses that are required in the jurisdictions that you are working.
  • Work well as a team. Team work is essential so being a good team member is key at CMS.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work required

Physical requirements:
  • Able to lift, push, pull and twist up to 50 lbs through out the workday.
  • Work overhead, climb ladders, work on uneven surfaces for extended periods of time.
  • On feet for entire 8+ hour shift.
  • Daily work activities include: walking, standing, sitting, kneeling, climbing, squatting, crawling, digging, and ascending and descending ladders and scaffolding constantly throughout the work day.

Pay/Benefits:

$28.00/hr. -$37.00/hr. depending on skill and experience. Benefits offered (Health, vision, dental, 401k).
