Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced Construction Superintendent for our client OQ in Musandam, Oman with refinery/downstream experience
RESPONSIBILITIES
- In consultation with Project Manager, monitor performance to ensure all Project Construction deliverables are accomplished.
- Meet contractual conditions of performance, reviewing the work progress on day-to-day activities.
- Monitor and report to Project Manager of construction details, including progress, risks and opportunities in a timely manner.
- Ensure that all changes to specifications, Scope of work and drawings are approved and documented.
- Review manhours and duration forecast to completion. Monitor construction productivity and schedule performance. Plan ahead to prevent problems.
- Review and approve the construction program and ensure that detailed construction schedules are prepared on time for election activities.
- Oversee and direct construction projects and activities to ensure construction is completed in accordance with the relevant project design drawings, specs, and standards in line with the set targets for cost, schedule, and compliance with HSSE standards and expectations of the Asset Owner are met to their satisfaction.
- Oversee and direct contractors to ensure their service delivery is according to agreed specs, quality, timeline and costs, and contractual obligations are met.
- Oversee the completion of construction-related documents, system discipline walk down, and punch list to ensure a successful handover to ORA & CSU.
- Liaise with other Project teams on the appointment of suitable sub-contractors and suppliers to ensure adequate resources and expertise to achieve the required quality within agreed timescales.
- Ensure and monitor all material delivery on-site and guarantee that the team performs all required checks for the equipment as per the necessary procedures and vendor specifications.
- Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to the job status.
- Manage the construction activities at site and be the construction representative of project at site.
- Interface with the contractor daily on Construction progress and HSE-related issues
- Conduct periodic HSE inspection and highlight any improvements.
- Manage change control and variance register of all Construction project/construction activities.
- Supervise projects construction activities in line with approved project schedules maintained at the site.
- Assure performance in all aspects and phases of the Construction project.
- Effective completion of Construction work and deliverables to meet the needs of the Project.
- Execute Construction systems and processes. While ensuring the quality of G Construction work
- Ensure Health & Safety Responsibilities are adhered to and understood.
- Responsible for the general "safety" including self, working areas and anybody who can be affected by his acts or omissions.
- Lead by example and support company goals and targets on occupational health, safety, security, and environment.
- Responsible and accountable to enforce and comply with Company HSE & Security Policies, procedures, and provision of adequate resources.
- Ensure the public, staff, and contractors' safety by maintaining the functionality of the HSE Management System and asset integrity of the company facilities
QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree with a minimum of 15 years Refinery/Downstream industry experience, including at least 5 years on major capital projects, (> 500 M USD) with Construction Management and Site Management focus
- Experience within an Oil and Gas operating company is also highly desired and may be considered in lieu of capital project experience
- Must have excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
- Must be willing to travel extensively for multi-week periods and have the flexibility to adjust work location to support project needs
