This position reports to
R&D Team Lead
Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain vocational experience through a temporary work placement (6 months). Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your expertise by supporting ABB's operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities. The work model for the role is: On-site #LI-On-Site This role is contributing to the the Materials team at the ABB corporate research center in Baden-Dättwil, Aargau, Switzerland. In the frame of this internship, you will be able to put theory into practice by contributing to our projects related to future energy technologies. Your responsibilities • Contribute to current technology development projects focusing on sustainable thermoplastic and thermoset polymers • Optimize processing and curing conditions of the materials at laboratory scale • Characterize thermal, mechanical and electrical properties, and investigate surface wettability and accelerated aging performance of sustainable polymer materials • Perform polymer recycling experiments to enable a circular polymer economy • Analyze and document experimental data, present results to the project team, and contribute to technical discussions Our team dynamics You will join a highly motivated and multidisciplinary team that is passionate about materials, where you will be able to thrive.

Qualifications for the role
- You currently pursue a Bachelor's or Master's degree (completion of at least six semesters) in Chemistry, Materials Science/Engineering, or a related discipline
- You possess a general understanding of and interest in polymer materials; fundamental knowledge in polymers is of advantage
- You have experience in laboratory work and know-how in experimental methods
- You are enthusiastic, have a self-motivated mindset and the ability to work independently
- You are a highly conscientious individual with a keen sense of responsibility
- You are at ease communicating in English, German is a plus
- Non-EU/non-EFTA citizens, please note that a certificate from your university, showing that an internship is a mandatory part of your studies, is required for the visa application
