We are seeking a Rail and Transit SCADA Engineer Washington, DC office.

How will you contribute to the team?
  • Work with authority engineers, technicians, and consultants.
  • Support the development of SCADA engineering design criteria, plans and specifications as guidance for stage and section designers.
  • Undertake engineering responsibilities for SCADA engineering.
  • Understand the design of power distribution systems and be able to modify existing electrical design drawings, as-built drawings, and creation of CAD backgrounds for designed drawings.
  • Be proficient in AutoCAD electrical design drawings.
  • Review engineering criteria, standard drawings and specifications related to SCADA systems.
  • Review drawings, specifications and computations developed by section designers for SCADA systems equipment for traction power, station power, auxiliary power, tunnel ventilation, station cooling, drainage pumps, fire and intrusion alarm, etc.
  • Review recommendations for tests and control procedures for SCADA equipment.
  • Attend field tests and answer field issues and questions.
  • Address SCADA related work orders providing resolutions for field issues.
  • Prepare and present accurate engineering reports on systems monitored by SCADA on time.
  • Perform verification and acceptance testing.
  • Experience with SCADA design criteria and standards, comfortable with field work and office work environments, proficient in the use of Autodesk suite including AutoCAD, and MS Office 365 (all suites).
  • Direct working experience with electrical power systems and SCADA Systems.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Autodesk suite to develop/amend electrical drawings for high voltage auxiliary power systems.
  • Each candidate considered shall have the physical ability to access any of the locations and perform a hand-on inspection if required.
  • Knowledge of WMATA systems is preferred.
  • Defines scope of project, with full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, and executing project assignments.
  • Selects problems for investigation, developing novel approaches and solutions to technical problems.
  • Conducts quality control checks, reviewing calculations, designs, evaluations, and specifications developed by design staff for accuracy and completeness, performing on-site inspections and reviews, and conducting or overseeing remedial design work.
  • Keeps abreast of state-of-the-art methods and developments in area of specialization.
  • Recommends changes or improvements to plans and programs.
  • May function as the project manager for routine to semi-complex projects.
  • Responsibilities may include marketing, negotiating contracts, budgeting, financial management, schedule coordination and resources allocation.
  • Performs such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary. Prepares material for reports and permit applications, gathering information, writing rough outline, and/or preparing work progression documents and graphic presentations.
  • Performs engineering calculations.
  • Performs field observations of construction where appropriate.
  • Performs such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.

What will you contribute?
  • B.S. in Engineering required.
  • Professional Engineering license desired.
  • 10+ years' experience in engineering.
  • 5+ years' experience in rail and transit engineering.
  • Experienced in MS office (Excel, OneNote, Word, etc.).
  • Good interpersonal skills and capable of developing technical writing, and communications skills. PC and CAD skills required.
  • Available to perform field reviews and coordination meetings.
  • Scheduled to work full time.

Expected compensation range is between $101,000 - $169,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
