Your Role:

S&ME is seeking a skilled project manager in Raleigh, North Carolina with design and permitting experience to join our Civil Engineering / Energy team with a heavy focus on the Oil & Gas, electrical transmission / distribution, and/or waste management markets.

As a Civil Engineering & Energy Project Manager, you will lead multi-disciplined teams to design and develop projects for Energy, Industrial, and Mining, clients with a heavy focus on natural gas distribution and transmission systems. You will manage environmental, natural, and cultural resource assessments, various permitting processes, pipeline design, and construction plan preparation, to ensure project success by overseeing safety, risk management, quality, schedule, technical aspects, client objectives, and profitability. Effective communication and fostering a positive working environment are essential. Additionally, you will also perform business development and prepare proposals to help grow the company.

What You'll Do:

• Team Management: Lead and manage multi-disciplined teams on design projects, ensuring effective collaboration and communication.
• Project Execution: Oversee the overall execution of projects, including safety, risk management, quality, schedule, technical aspects, and profitability. Visit project sites, connect with clients, and ensure we're always delivering high-quality work.
• Permitting and Design: Handle environmental and non-environmental permitting processes including Erosion & Sedimentation Control Plans, Floodplain Development Permits, site grading, DOT encroachments, utility encroachments, while performing design for natural gas distribution and transmission pipelines / facilities, landfills, electric transmission and distribution lines / facilities.
• Technical Expertise: Utilize your experience with AutoCAD, Civil3D, stormwater, and utility modeling programs to prepare and oversee preparation of detailed construction drawings and plans.
• Business Development: Assist in business development activities to expand the company's client base and project portfolio.

What We're Looking For:

• A Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering preferred; Additional degrees or commensurate experience will be considered.
• 2+ years' experience managing projects
• 6+ years' experience working on civil and/or energy projects
• Experience in the onshore oil and gas or landfill sectors is a plus
• Experience with environmental and non-environmental permitting for civil and/or energy projects is a plus
• Experience managing multi-disciplined teams on life-cycle civil or energy projects is a plus
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with teammates and clients
• Leadership and a passion towards projects and business development
