Job Description

IHI Power Services Corp. (IPSC) has a career opportunity for an Operations & Maintenance Technician III - Control Room Operator at our Power Plant located in Las Vegas, NV. The salary rate range for this role is $37.00 to $52.00 per hour (negotiable based on experience)

Job Summary

All these Primary Functions are performed with general direction of the Site Management team and following policies and procedures that are in place, including but not limited to the Administrative Manual, the Safety Manual, the Operations Manual, and the Maintenance Manual.

Job Functions

  • Acts as the Maintenance/ Operations point of contact in the coordination of the facility's short and long-term maintenance/ project planning and scheduling process.
  • Reviews daily corrective work orders and establishes priorities based on Safety, Operational and commercial impact.
  • Acts as the intermediate between the support groups and Operations department for the development of maintenance plans and schedules as well as routine CMMS backlog review.
  • Plant Maintenance, Plant Operations, Projects, OEM to ensure all parties are aligned on major maintenance plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Work with Management Team to develop 1, 5, and 10-year major maintenance and outage site plan, planning these in CMMS tie all PMs to these planned Outages to support budgeting.
  • Ensure all pre-outage work is clearly scheduled and included in the outage planning milestones tracking tool. Schedule planning outage milestone update meeting with key stakeholders.
  • Responsible for development and integration of the optimized plant wide and resourced loaded Outage schedule.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Control Room Operator Duties
  • Startup, shutdown, and operate units following operating parameters
  • Complete operations logs, daily turnovers
  • Interpret and print HMI screens / graphics
  • Monitor continuous emissions monitoring systems (CEMS) and operate units within limits
  • Navigate the PI system, make trends and print reports
  • Utilize the Redtag system to generate LOTO, Safe Work, Hot Work, and Confined Space permits
  • Communicate with plant personnel clearly while utilizing the phonetic alphabet, including using radios
  • Complete daily rounds using the Webview electronic rounds system

Contract Maintenance Activities
  • Plan and coordinate mechanical, electrical, and technical contract maintenance activities with appropriate Manager and employees within the assigned area of responsibility, including daily, short-range, and long-range planning.
  • Perform continuous review of plans and activities to determine ways to increase the value of the Owner's asset.
  • Prepare, track, and maintain cost estimates and schedules.
  • Utilize records and reports to assist in establishing frequency of maintenance requirements.
  • Interact with Operations staff to improve maintenance effectiveness.
  • Ensure the maintenance activities are properly supported with necessary parts, tooling, and services on a timely basis.

Maintenance Management System Coordination/Oversight (CMMS)
  • Complete purchase requisitions in CMMS
  • Input inventory information (adds/ deletes) to maintain accurate CMMS inventory
  • Complete audit of inventory as determined in the Administrative Manual or as directed by Managers
  • Ensure all material is received into the CMMS properly and per Sarbanes Oxley guidelines
  • Ensure proper approval is obtained on purchase orders
  • Input work orders
  • Assist Maintenance Manager managing work orders
  • Manage Tasks
  • Adjust Preventive Maintenance frequency as directed
  • Maintain equipment list and history
  • Report CMMS issues to Management on a timely basis
  • Provide training and problem solving for other employees on the CMMS
  • Perform audits on portions of the CMMS
  • Maintain paper and electronic files to document maintenance history, with respect to required compliance
  • Perform other duties as needed to maintain the CMMS

Update Monthly Reports with Work Order Status & Procurement Activities
  • Contact vendors and contractors to obtain quotes or estimates for goods and services.
  • Review specifications, scope of work, and pricing with appropriate Managers, consultants, or employees.
  • Submit Requests for Quotations (RFQ).
  • Submit Purchasing Requests.
  • Procure goods and services with approved purchase order.
  • Coordinate deliveries and work dates with vendors and contractors, respectively.

Education and Experience An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

  • Must possess basic math skills, good verbal communications skills, and be proficient with the use of power and precision tools.
  • Must be cooperative with those he/she contacts in this work and have the ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Must know the hazards involved and the safety precautions to be practiced in the operation and maintenance of power plant equipment and machinery.
  • Work within and insure strict adherence to all safety practices and procedures.
  • Must be able to respond to audio alarms and variations of sound.
  • Basic data entry/computer skills.
  • Work as a team. Must be able to pool our knowledge and energy to work in tandem to completely understand and productively respond to all of the business challenges.

Work Environment Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job

  • Protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection and other equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties. Work with hazardous materials may be required.
  • Requires working shifts with weekend and holiday work as required by schedules, workload and plant conditions. On call status (day and night) may be required.
  • Includes working indoors and outdoors.
