The Plutonium Facilities Engineering Division Essential Balance of Plant Group (PFE-EBP) at Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a dynamic and experienced Deputy Group Leader (DGL) to lead the creation of a Shift Technical Engineering Team, a mission-critical team that will support 24/7 operations at the TA-55 Plutonium Facility.
This role is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of engineering and operations at the nation's premier plutonium facility.
As DGL, you will work closely with the PFE-EBP Group Leader to stand up a new team and create the framework for an effective Shift Technical Engineer program. You will provide technical and operational leadership to a team of shift-based engineers, ensuring the team delivers responsive, high-quality engineering support to facility operations 24/7.
In this role, you will predominately work a standard weekday, daylight shift. However, occasional shift work will be required, particularly as the new team is developed and transitioned to a 24/7 support schedule.

- Coordinate shift coverage, qualification, and real-time engineering support for TA-55 facility operations.
- Ensure alignment with nuclear safety requirements, conduct of operations, and conduct of engineering.
- Collaborate closely with the engineering, operations, maintenance, and project leads.
- Oversee training, qualification, and professional development of shift engineering personnel.
- Promote a strong culture of safety, excellence, and continuous improvement in a 24/7 operations environment.
- Support the PFE-EBP Group Leader on strategic planning, workforce development, and technical capability growth within PFE.

- Experience building and managing shift teams or working in a 24/7 operational environment.
