JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under general supervision, the HVAC technician will repair, install, and maintain all HVAC systems (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ready to begin work at 7:00 am or the appointed hour.
• Performs any and all assignments related to normal duties of a HVAC Technician
• Must complete required forms and orders materials and tools necessary to perform assignments.
• Complete necessary reports as well as document all materials and labor expended on each job.
• Responsible for the mechanical maintenance of assigned vehicle.
• Performs a daily check of the general mechanical condition of the vehicle and ensures that the vehicle and ensures that the vehicle has gas and oil.
• Reports any necessary mechanical or electrical repairs to supervisor.
• Capable of performing assigned duties unassisted.
• Subject to being called to work before or after normal working hours in case of an emergency situation and be willing to work in whatever capacity needed to make the schools and board property safe for students and board employees.
• Adheres to all Board of Education regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School graduate or GED certificate required.
  • Must have completed four (4) years of apprenticeship in area.
  • Must have a valid state of Alabama Journeyman Gas Card.
  • Certificate of Completion of the Refrigerant Transition and Recovery course and tests required.
  • Must have at least two (2) years with VAV Boxes and Damper and Air Flow
  • Must have at least two (2) year's experience in Energy Management Control.
  • Must have at least two (2) years of experience as a journeyman in service and repair of cooling towers, chillers, field wiring, and trouble shooting.
  • Must have at least two (2) years of experience as a journeyman in installation, service, and maintenance of 5-ton through 100-ton air conditioning units.
  • One (1) year experience as a journeyman with chemical treatment of air conditioning and boilers.
  • Must have at least two (2) years as a journeyman in electronics pertaining to air conditioning and heating.
  • Must have at least two (2) year's experience as a journeyman in disassembling, repairing, and reassembling 1½-ton through 25-ton air conditioning units.
  • Experience in the safe and proper operation and maintenance of all tools and equipment used in the HVAC trade.
  • Must have a valid Alabama's Driver's license.
  • Must be physically able to perform the duties of the position.
