JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood (trading locally as WOOD KSS LLP) is currently recruiting for Field Construction Engineer to join our team in Tengiz, Kazakhstan (for KZ passport holders).

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Single-point accountability for timely delivery of packages and vendor data to Engineering and Construction to meet schedule and required at-site dates
• Coordinates all functional teams' efforts to ensure package deliveries meet cost, schedule, quality, and Safety in Design (SID) specifications
• Demonstrates fluency in reviewing and providing input to Primavera schedules, progress reporting (earned, planned and forecast), productivity measurement and resource planning
• Applies assurance processes within major capital projects, including Design Assurance Reviews, Peer Advisory Board meetings, Cost & Schedule Risk Assessments, Constructability Workshops & Operations Readiness Reviews
• Develops conditions precedent for their assigned packages through collaboration with all disciplines and functions on the project team
• Manages change (PMOC, MOC, ITC, ITR, Change Order requests) and continually drives capital efficiency, implementing an MFO mindset
• Proactively identify and elevate cost trends to project leadership team to mitigate as needed
• Ensures MTOs, MRs are accurate, issued in a timely manner, and aligned with the 3D Model. Responsible for working closely with SCM, Engineering Business Partner, Quality Team and Vendors to manage materials for the project
• Ensures suppliers deliver data to KSU engineering in alignment with schedule requirements and engineering quality standards
• Ensures Engineering Business Partners support all work activities with well defined and justifiable CTRs. Reviews, checks and challenges Business Partners on CTR submissions to ensure they are always appropriate
• Coordinate discipline engineering leads', responsible engineers', and area project engineers' efforts to timely provide engineering deliverables
• Manage Decision Record Document (DRD), Engineering Technology Query (TQ), Interface Agreements (INAs) and Request for Information (RFI) processes as directed by the Engineering Manager
• Participate in lessons learned workshops, risk workshops and other assurance engagements to support the project team
• Ensure supplier Project Document Schedule (PDS) reflects the project's deliverables priority and schedule constraints
• Communicates document needs to suppliers; and ensures suppliers deliver these documents, when needed, expediting when necessary to meet schedule
• In collaboration with Quality team, ensure Quality and SID requirements are satisfied in vendor packages
• Facilitates Kick-Off Meetings (KOMs), drives supplier performance improvement initiatives, and facilitates interim progress meetings
• Closely monitors supplier engineering, procurement, and fabrication schedule. Identifies issues early and proactively resolves them with suppliers, engineers and cross-functional support. Escalates issues to Engineering Manager and Project Manager when appropriate
• Work with suppliers to mutually understand schedule risks; and develop appropriate mitigations/recovery plans with them. Set 30/60/90/180-day milestone targets for their packages; and ensure project alignment
• Leverage knowledge from Quality Surveillance inspectors to understand supplier manufacturing status, as well as issues/roadblocks identified by these inspections. Coordinate resolution of issues, raised by Quality inspectors
• Coordinate with Construction, the planning and execution of package carry-over work
• Oversees the review of change orders and ITCs/ITPs within the needs of the project with a drive for capital efficiency
• Works closely with construction, operations, and other functions to resolve engineering issues in the field
• Support the supply chain team by preparing Scopes of Work, establishing Technical Bid Review teams, lead technical bid evaluations and ensure Bidders and awarded Business Partners fully understand the scope and requirements for contracts and packaged equipment purchase orders
• Ensures as-supplied and as-built deliverables are provided to a high quality and handed over in a timely manner enabling efficient close-out of project scopes

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree
• At least 10 years' experience in similar roles
