Your purpose:

AtkinsRéalis is looking for an Stakeholder Engagement Associate Director to support its growing Infrastructure - Aviation business. Reporting to Director Asset Management - South this role will oversee the Stakeholder Engagement Lead and Stakeholder Engagement Consultant roles, working in both the UK and overseas, providing strategic direction, leadership, and development for the team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering thought leadership in stakeholder engagement and collaboration, shaping and growing the Stakeholder Engagement Service Line, and expanding AtkinsRéalis' position in the market. This role will be integral in identifying and securing new business opportunities, supporting bids and proposals, and engaging with senior executives in client organisations, industry bodies, and external conferences.

This is a key leadership role, requiring someone with deep expertise in stakeholder engagement, strategic communications, and business transformation in the aviation or infrastructure sector.

This role will be based in the UK but will be managing a team working globally. Overseas travel will be expected.

What you can bring:
  • Provide leadership and oversight for the Stakeholder Engagement team, supporting the professional development of Stakeholder Engagement Leads and Consultants.
  • Coach, mentor, and guide team members, ensuring best practices in stakeholder engagement are embedded across all projects.
  • Drive thought leadership in stakeholder engagement and collaboration, developing frameworks, tools, and methodologies to enhance AtkinsRéalis' offering.
  • Support the development of the Stakeholder Engagement Service Line, establishing efficient processes, tools, and techniques to drive continued growth and service excellence.
  • Support business development efforts, identifying opportunities to grow AtkinsRéalis' presence in the aviation stakeholder engagement market.
  • Expand and manage existing client accounts, ensuring long-term partnerships and demonstrating AtkinsRéalis' market leadership.
  • Support bids and proposals, providing subject matter expertise and developing compelling content that strengthens AtkinsRéalis' stakeholder engagement proposition.
  • Hold responsibility and accountability for the delivery of stakeholder engagement strategies, plans and activities as part of client delivery.
  • Engage at senior executive levels, presenting stakeholder engagement strategies, insights, and recommendations to client leadership teams.
  • Represent AtkinsRéalis at industry events and conferences, acting as a subject matter expert in stakeholder engagement within aviation and infrastructure.
  • Proactively assess stakeholder interdependencies, ensuring alignment with project goals, operational requirements, and regulatory frameworks.

Essential-
  • Extensive experience in stakeholder engagement, public affairs, or strategic communications, particularly in aviation, infrastructure, or transport sectors.
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage and develop a team of stakeholder engagement professionals.
  • Deep understanding of stakeholder engagement principles, regulatory frameworks, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Strong business development and client relationship management experience, with a track record of securing and expanding customer accounts.
  • Ability to present complex stakeholder engagement strategies to senior executives, influencing decision-making at the highest levels.
  • Experience in bids and proposals, with the ability to develop compelling, high-quality content for winning work.
  • Expertise in workshop facilitation, stakeholder forums, and engagement strategies to support major transformation programmes.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory, policy, and planning frameworks in aviation and infrastructure projects.

Preferred-
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Communications, Public Affairs, Business, Engineering, or Aviation).
  • Experience delivering stakeholder engagement strategies for large-scale transformation and infrastructure projects.
  • Active involvement in industry forums, professional bodies, or thought leadership initiatives.
