This role is a full-time onsite role in Dubai, UAE with travel to Basra, Iraq as needed.

The role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Geological Modeler to join our UAE Business Unit.

Wood has been awarded a general engineering contract to support an International Client operator to deliver a portfolio of onshore capital projects by provision of engineering and project management services (including EPC contract management), as well as Supply Chain, Construction and Commissioning support from Wood Iraq and UAE offices.

Projects include both Greenfield and Brownfield modification projects and integrating low-carbon solutions to support our client's energy transition and emissions reduction goals.

Key Objectives

• Activities include data preparation and data loading, structural and stratigraphic 3D framework, data analysis / variography, reservoir characterization studies, lithology and EOD and facies modelling, porosity modelling, permeability modelling, saturation modelling, volumetric assessment, and scale up to dynamic simulation models.
• Data analysis, interpretation, and integration to establish and update geologic frameworks and 3D subsurface models for giant oil fields with 500+ wells.
• Build 3D geologic models of large carbonate and clastic reservoirs with expert capability.
• Undertake geological studies of reservoirs to optimize field development plans
• Conduct reservoir management activities and participate in interdisciplinary reservoir study teams.
• Strong interaction with the Reservoir simulation team, integration of dynamic surveillance data in geologic models.
• Uncertainty analysis
• Develop and mentor less experienced staff

Expected:

• Minimum of bachelor's degree in geological sciences. Master's or Doctorate's degrees are desirable.
• 15 years' work experience in Petroleum Geology with at least 5-10 years of continuous recent experience in building 3D stochastic and deterministic geologic models using Petrel
• Good understandingof Mature Carbonate reservoirs

Skills:

• Analytical skills / problem solving.
• Communication and interpersonal skills; fluency in written and spoken English.
• Geologic and Reservoir Modeling as a technical specialist and have a high degree of expertise in the use of the 3D Geologic Modeling software.
• Knowledgeable in the following disciplines: stratigraphy, structure, seismic interpretation, petrophysics, production geology, and reservoir engineering.
• Worked closely with simulation engineers on the up scaling of geologic models into reservoir simulation models.
• Demonstrate good appreciation of how to capture the key geologic features most relevant to fluid flow in geologic modeling.
• Must have worked on mature producing fields where the integration of production data has been used to constrain maps and interpretations
• Must have carbonate reservoir experience and have applied advanced reservoir characterization concepts on previous projects
• Must have experience/knowledge of current computer software for geoscience applications
• Exposure and knowledge of reservoir simulation modelling

• Petrel - Expert Level.
• Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
