JOB DESCRIPTION

U.S. Only: Authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Load PLC programs supplied by the engineering group
and verify correct device mapping and tag configuration
• Coordinate with Automation Specialists to complete loop checks, device simulations, and functional testing for all control points
• Troubleshoot wiring, power, and signal issues during commissioning and handoff
• Perform final validation of program logic, safety interlocks, and alarm handling before start-up
• Document all commissioning steps, test results, and configuration changes in the site's automation management system
• Collaborate closely with Operations, Electrical, and Process Engineering teams to achieve safe and timely startup of facilities
• Adhere to Occidental's safety policies and all relevant industry regulations throughout project execution

QUALIFICATIONS

-High school diploma or GED; associate degree ortechnical certificate in automation, instrumentation, orelectronics is preferred
• Three or more years of experience commissioning ormaintaining PLC-based control systems in oil and gas,petrochemical, or similar heavy industry
• Demonstrated ability to interpret P&IDs, loopdrawings, and PLC I/O wiring diagrams
• Working knowledge of Allen-Bradley ControlLogix,CompactLogix, or comparable platforms
• Solid understanding of analog and discreteinstrumentation, power distribution, and industrialnetworking
• Strong problem solving skills and clear writtendocumentation habits
• Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather, climbladders, and lift up to fifty pounds
Preferred Skills
• Familiarity with SCADA or HMI configuration
• Experience with Modbus, Ethernet/IP, and serial communications
• Knowledge of safety-instrumented systems and API standards
