OVERVIEW OF POSITION
The Water Treatment Maintenance Planner in the Water Treatment Division, under general supervision, plan and schedule maintenance of fixed assets in support of section and personnel. Create, maintain, and plan the asset registry and preventive maintenance systems in the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System). Process and coordinate the daily work order requests. Perform site visits to all facilities to scope, plan, and schedule the proper number of personnel needed to perform jobs as needed.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Uses CMMS to plan and schedule activities related to maintaining and extending the life of the physical plant assets and infrastructure for each treatment plant, including use of a metrics program to measure division efficiency and labor utilization to produce work performance reports for management information and use.
- Administers the implementation of maintenance schedules through the CMMS by ensuring that the treatment maintenance staff maintain complete records and entries within the CMMS program.
- Under the direction of the Senior Water Treatment Maintenance Supervisor and Water Treatment Maintenance Supervisor, establishes work priority, develops job plans, defines parts and material, defines crafts and skills, and engages the proper resources to develop a safe, effective, and efficient work control plan.
- Improves work force productivity and quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning, scheduling, and coordination of maintenance/calibration resources, parts, materials, and equipment access.
- Planning and coordination of preventative, corrective and service requested activities at Aurora's treatment facilities, as well as the participation in all applicable forums to make a reliable scheduling and track, record, and report schedule attainment and make adjustment necessary adjustment to avoid schedule breaks, or work stoppages.
- Coordinates with other departments and divisions to develop work priorities, job plans, identify the necessary resources (parts, materials, supplies, skillset, and personnel) to complete projects.
- Maintains accurate equipment maintenance history and job records database and technical information on processes, plant, and equipment.
- Performs site visits to determine the need for work. Follow up on previous work completed and verify assets/locations for CMMS registry.
- May be required to work after hours and overtime as directed, and work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
- Advanced knowledge of City computer systems and programs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS

Education:
- High School Diploma or GED Experience:

- 3-year work experience related to industrial mechanical skilled labor preferred.
- Twelve (12) Months water or wastewater treatment related experience preferred.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate primarily based on mechanical principles.
- Computer-based maintenance management systems.
- Knowledge of safety practices and requirements of an industrial work setting.
- Knowledge of personal computers and related software.
Abilities:
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Essential Personnel:
- When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the City, all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.
Physical Demands:
- Moderate physical activity that may involve moving no more than 50 pounds with or without assistance at a time.

Work Environment:
- Works indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to noise, dust, and fumes.
- Works in and around chemical feed areas with exposure to hazardous chemicals while wearing appropriate PPE.
- Some work may be performed in confined spaces with exposure to raw sewage; will be exposed to low and medium electrical voltage.
Equipment Used:
- Frequently uses standard office equipment including computer, calculator, multi-line telephones, and copy/fax machines.
- Operates equipment and vehicles common to utilities maintenance functions.
- This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment.
