We are currently seeking expressions of interest for Welders to join our team at Hides in PNG.

The Role

This role is responsible for performing welding, fabrication, and structural repairs in accordance with company and client processes and procedures. You will work within a live plant environment, ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently to the highest standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform welding and fabrication tasks related to structural remediation, including repairing, modifying, and reinforcing structural components
  • Execute approved work orders using relevant client work procedures and permitting requirements
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to fabricate and repair components accurately
  • Work with mechanical and fitting teams to ensure proper installation and alignment of structural components
  • Conduct inspections of welded structures to ensure compliance with industry standards and project requirements
  • Operate welding equipment, including MIG, TIG, and arc welding processes, as per coded welding requirements
  • Participate in daily operations meetings with the client regarding maintenance, projects, and shutdowns
  • Attend daily toolbox talks with the team to ensure safety and task understanding
  • Create necessary permits and risk assessments for welding and fabrication activities
  • Ensure timesheets are accurately recorded to the correct task, job, and project allocation
  • Ensure materials, tools, and equipment are fit for purpose, checked, and certified prior to use
  • Actively promote excellence in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) by coordinating on-site safety programs in alignment with company and client policies


QUALIFICATIONS

What makes you remarkable?
  • Trade Qualification as a Welder
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in welding and fabrication roles, preferably in structural remediation work at mining sites
  • Experience with heavy structural welding, including pipe welding and plate welding
  • Previous experience working in PNG will be viewed advantageously.
  • Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and arc welding techniques, with relevant coding certifications
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and welding symbols
  • Experience in working with mechanical and fitting teams to ensure structural compliance
  • Previous experience working in Oil & Gas, mining or heavy industrial environment
  • Strong commitment to workplace health and safety practices
