District Plant Operations Manager - Energy & Utility Services

DFW Airport is seeking a District Plant Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our thermal energy, water storage, distribution, and pre-treatment plant systems. What You'll Be Responsible For:
  • Plan, schedule, assign, and coordinate maintenance and operations of thermal energy and water systems across the airport campus.
  • Supervise technical teams through direct reports, ensuring effective use of personnel, equipment, and resources.
  • Monitor system performance, energy production/consumption, and conduct quality assurance inspections.
  • Prepare and manage shop budgets, including equipment procurement and supply planning.
  • Evaluate employee performance, identify training needs, and ensure safety standards are met across all systems.
  • Recommend capital improvements to enhance reliability, maintainability, and efficiency of infrastructure systems.
  • Collaborate across departments for engineering support, construction coordination, and system integration.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5 years of progressive experience in operation of thermal energy production and distribution systems.
  • Minimum 3 years in district energy systems (chilled water/heating).
  • 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Valid Class C driver's license.
  • Formal training in a related industry trade.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

What You Should Bring:
  • Strong working knowledge of energy management, plant operations, and potable water/wastewater distribution systems.
  • Familiarity with industrial controls, instrumentation, and operational software.
  • Experience interpreting blueprints, diagrams, and system schematics.
  • Proven budgeting and personnel planning skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Commitment to safety and environmental compliance
