Description

The Probst Group is excited to announce an opportunity within our Technical Services Team. We are seeking a Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager to help support our customers and enhance the operation of our industrial wastewater treatment system in Littlefield, TX. This role will require close collaboration with clients, vendors, regulatory agencies, and various departments within Probst.

Although officially established in 2008, Probst Group has been providing customized solutions to meet the unique needs of our clients for over 30 years. We take pride in our extensive experience in industrial wastewater engineering and operations.

As the Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager, you will play a crucial role within the Technical Services team. Your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Team Management:
  • Lead, manage, and be accountable for the WWTP operations and staff, fostering collaboration, growth, and efficiency in operations
  • Develop and distribute tasks and checklists on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to wastewater personnel
  • Drive accountability for KPI performance, generate summaries, and present regular reports to senior management
  • Regularly review policies and SOPs to ensure team operations are current and relevant, and develop procedural adjustments, as needed
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with team members to discuss performance, growth, and development plans
  • Lead performance discussions, including reviews and performance improvement plans (PIPs) for direct reports
  • Actively participate in structured weekly meetings focused on identifying, discussing, and resolving key issues facing the WWTP
  • Review and approve time sheets, vacation requests, and on-call schedules for the WWTP staff

Plant Management:
  • Lead and implement Health & Safety initiatives at the facility
  • Elevate process and mechanical concerns to senior management
  • Monitor processes and maintain the data log to ensure WWTP effluent meets permit compliance
  • Operate HMI/SCADA computer software to monitor and control the WWTP system
  • Provide wastewater troubleshooting and operations support in both field and office environments
  • Oversee the preventive maintenance program, maintain the CMMS, and assign tasks as necessary to ensure optimal equipment performance
  • Determine proper chemical dosing rates
  • Diagnose operating problems and perform necessary corrective actions
  • Monitor onsite laboratory analyses of wastewater samples and interpret results for process control
  • Manage chemical inventory and order/notify appropriate staff when reordering is necessary
  • Submit all required samples to a certified lab, as required

Customer Management:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the WWTP and facilitate effective and professional communication
  • Participate in regular client meetings and communications
  • Provide superb customer service
  • Assist with client compliance records and discharge monitoring reports
  • Complete weekly WWTP status reports and submit to the client
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma
  • Good problem-solving, effective communication, and troubleshooting skills
  • Understanding of WWTP unit processes, instrumentation, and controls
  • Ability to understand P&IDs and mechanical drawings
  • Ability to use basic computer software programs
  • Ability to write standard operating procedures for maintenance, operations, and laboratory

Preferred Qualifications for the Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager:
  • 3 to 5+ years of wastewater experience
  • 3 to 5+ years of staff management experience
  • Hands-on expertise in wastewater treatment processes and equipment, such as experience with aeration systems, activated sludge, solid-liquid separation, dewatering, chemical, and biological processes
  • Knowledge of wastewater analytical lab equipment and procedures
