Position Summary:

The HVAC Service Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining commercial and industrial heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. This position requires strong technical skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to deliver exceptional service to clients in the field. Technicians must be able to work independently and as part of a team to ensure systems operate efficiently and reliably.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and repair issues with HVAC systems including rooftop units (RTUs), chillers, boilers, split systems, VAVs, and control systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment according to service schedules.
  • Respond to service calls and emergency breakdowns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical components such as motors, compressors, pumps, and controls.
  • Replace or repair defective parts, calibrate thermostats and sensors, and adjust system settings to optimize performance.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of service calls, diagnostics, repairs, parts usage, and customer interactions.
  • Communicate clearly with dispatch, supervisors, and customers regarding service findings and recommendations.
  • Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with local codes and company standards.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and company service vehicle in clean, organized, and working order.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and certifications.

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience as an HVAC technician, preferably in commercial or industrial environments.
  • EPA 608 Certification (Universal required).
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, components, and controls.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training or HVAC certification preferred.

Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in various environments including mechanical rooms, rooftops, and occupied buildings.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, work at heights, and in confined spaces.
  • Exposure to weather, noise, dust, and HVAC system hazards.
  • Rotating on-call availability for emergency service as needed.

Preferred Qualifications (Optional):
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS)
  • NATE certification or other manufacturer-specific training
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
