Purpose of the role
Putting the stores and customers at the heart of what we do. The Retail Business Manager will deliver the 'wow' retail customer experience across a network of 10-15 bp sites. This is achieved through leading a large team with purpose, trust, empathy, authenticity, and care - delivering the safety, financial and operational performance targets in line with the bp global and local Reimagine Retail strategies.

Purpose of the role

Key Accountabilities
Risk:
- Empowering the team to achieve zero harm through curious and collaborative workings
- Ensure execution of bp processes, procedures, and innovative programs into territory to develop an improved safety culture
- Improve key safety lagging indicators through enhancing the safety and risk culture at store and role modelling these behaviors
People:
- Inspire store teams to deliver performance and 'wow' customers
- Ability and courage to speak up and foster a team environment that does the same
- Execute the retail strategy & agreed customer offer in partnership with support teams
- Provide engaging and authentic leadership of employees, including coaching and developing store managers and their teams ~150 employees
- Structured and well-planned monitoring and CI of performance to ensure we can continue to transform the business and adapt to customers' needs and business strategy.
- Manage the territory to an agreed set of sales and cost KPI's
- Develop purposeful connections and shared ambitions with support teams to ensure disciplined focus on the overall objectives.
Performance:
- Front-line focus on retail site performance (CX, people, culture, risk & financial).
- Own & optimize cluster performance - decisions that drive commercial results.
- Achieve the annual / monthly plans for C-Store and Food sales, identifying, implementing & escalating growth opportunities to further enhance performance,
- Supporting the delivery of fuel volumes versus plan, working in collaboration with Retail pricing
- Deliver bottom line accountability of cost and controls
- Complete store level performance meetings with all stores that inspire and drive continuous improvement
- Accountable for continuous improvement from Talk2BP (NPS, CSAT)
- Support and deliver projects within the region, such as partnership rollouts and innovation
Essential Skills and Experience
- Experience across retail operations, (including across different industries that bring different perspectives)
- Experience in organizations that are digitally savvy, commercially orientated, and future focused
- Awareness working with food and coffee an advantage
- Nurturing, building people connection and trust, inspiring teams around them to deliver great performance
- Ability to adapt, respond with agility and demonstrate resilience and determination
- Build rapport with internal and external stakeholders to achieve common goals
- Leads through inspiring and trust
- Data driven and ability to interpret financial results to improve performance
- Understands and role models risk management and people safety to ensure safety is our number 1 priority
- Growth and commercial mindset
- Ability to support 24/7 operations by being on-call
- Ability to travel, at times overnight
