As a Journeyman Mechanical Pipefitter, you'll be responsible for the precise assembly, installation, and maintenance of diverse piping systems and mechanical equipment. Your work will span steam, heating, cooling, industrial production, and processing systems, ensuring high-quality modifications, replacements, and new installations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Blueprint Mastery: Read, understand, and interpret blueprints, drawings, floor plans, schedules, and manufacturer's specifications for mechanical piping and equipment.
  • Material Selection & Planning: Select the correct type and size of pipe and related materials according to job specifications. You'll also inspect worksites to identify obstructions and ensure structural integrity, planning installation sequences to avoid conflicts.
  • Piping Assembly & Joining: Assemble and install various metal (brass, copper) and nonmetal (lead, glass, plastic) pipes and fittings. You'll expertly join piping using threaded, caulked, wiped, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints.
  • Secure Installation: Secure pipes to structures with clamps, brackets, and hangers using hand tools.
  • HVAC/R System Integration: Install and maintain refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, including compressors, pumps, meters, pneumatic and hydraulic controls, and all associated piping.
  • System Testing & Troubleshooting: Test piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure and observing gauges. You'll also troubleshoot and resolve issues with piping systems, performing all necessary repairs.
  • Advanced Welding: Weld aluminum, carbon steel, and stainless steel, demonstrating versatility in MIG, TIG, and stick welding methods.
  • Quality & Safety Compliance: Maintain and repair piping systems, ensuring strict compliance with all safety and quality standards.

What You'll Bring:

  • Industry Experience: Essential experience with pipefitting in the Mechanical and HVAC Industry.
  • Journeyman Qualification: Completion of an apprenticeship or four years of verifiable training experience in the practical installation of related systems and the usage of required tools and equipment.
  • Technical Acumen:

    • Ability to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
    • Familiarity with cutting, bending, and welding tools and techniques.
    • A working knowledge of the systems being installed; ability to interpret plans and specifications; and ability to visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex issues.
  • A valid Driver's License is required.
