Progress Drilling USA (PDUSA) is a geotechnical and geo-environmental drilling service provider. PDUSA personnel and equipment and are capable of soil and bedrock sampling to depths in excess of 250 feet using solid or hollow stem auger, casing advance, wet rotary, or rock coring. The track mounted drilling equipment can access project sites that may have challenging terrain or wet conditions otherwise inaccessible by more traditional types of equipment.

Geotechnical Driller Assistant

This part time casual position is based out of our Hockley Office. This role assists the Geotechnical Driller on site-based projects and candidate must have the ability for travel to various job sites when needed.

Progress Drilling USA is an upcoming exciting company that works with our geotechnical engineering team to plan and execute various types of geotechnical investigations for pipeline, renewable energy, municipal, and foundation related engineering projects.

Summary of Position:

The Geotechnical Driller Assistant will assist with the deployment of drill rigs, transporting, loading, and unloading equipment and logging information from the job site during drilling operations.

Accountabilities:

• Assist in the mobilization of drilling rigs for jobs as directed. Load drill pipe, mud, and equipment
• Assist with monitoring the performance of all equipment to identify maintenance and repair needs
• Assist with drilling operations of the rig by handling drill pipe, mixing drill mud, and handling casing and other equipment
• Perform maintenance and cleaning of equipment and work area as directed.
• Attend all safety meetings and comply with both company and client safety standards and programs
• Maintain a clean and organized working environment, including equipment and job site areas
• Turn in all required paperwork to office daily
• Perform all duties and responsibilities by Company safety rules and procedures
• All other duties assigned by the Primary Driller as required.

Qualifications:

• Legally Authorized to work in the United States, without restrictions.
• Experience working around drilling and heavy equipment
• Sufficient knowledge of geotechnical drilling techniques to be responsible for an entire project
• Be available for drilling projects that require both in-state and out-of-state travel and overnight visits
• CDL A License (an asset)
• Geotechnical Drilling Experience - Soils Augers, Wet Rotary and Wireline Coring
• Familiar with and following DOT and IFTA regulations.
• Must have current driver's license with record in accordance with Company and DOT policies, class A license is highly preferred but not required.
• TWIC card.
• ISTC Basic Plus.
• HAZWOPER 40 Hour Certification.

• Previous assistant drilling experience is a plus.
• It is the responsibility of the employee to have all required safety training and tickets for each project they work on. A list of training required will be provided to the employee and must be completed within 3 days of signed offer letter or prior to mobilizing to site. These courses may include but not limited to: H2s, OSHA 30, First Aid, CPR, Confined space, API 1169.
