Wood is recruiting for a Process & Engineering Manager to join our team in Equatorial Guinea.
The Process & Engineering Manager is accountable for leading all engineering functions at an LNG plant to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This includes overall responsibility for process engineering, production scheduling, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, Distributed Control System (DCS), laboratory services and document control.
The role provides strategic and technical leadership to support Operations and Maintenance, ensuring full compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM), Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) standards, and corporate policies. The Engineering Manager is also instrumental in supporting production scheduling, contract compliance, process optimization, and plant modifications
Location: Equatorial Guinea
Rotation Work Pattern: 8 weeks on 3 weeks off, 6-day week 10-hour day
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement engineering policies, procedures, and standards to ensure plant integrity, operational reliability, and regulatory compliance.
• Oversee hydrocarbon accounting and LNG inventory management systems to ensure accuracy and commercial alignment.
• Provide process engineering support for plant troubleshooting, optimization, energy efficiency, and capacity improvement initiatives.
• Integrate new gas supply and sales agreements into hydrocarbon tracking and production scheduling systems.
• Drive initiatives to enhance operational availability, thermal efficiency, and cost optimization.
• Establish and maintain Greenhouse Gas Inventory systems aligned with international MRV (Monitoring, Reporting, Verification) standards.
• Guide the development and competency management of engineering staff, with a strong emphasis on national workforce capability building.
• Ensure delivery of departmental KPIs related to safety, environmental compliance, plant reliability, production & process performance.
• Lead the recruitment, onboarding, and training of engineering staff—both national and expatriate.
• Manage plant automation systems, including the Distributed Control System (DCS), ensuring performance tuning, system integrity, and process control optimization.
• Provide daily technical support to Operations and Maintenance on plant reliability, equipment performance, and engineering design issues.
• Champion engineering improvements, technology upgrades, and process innovations aligned with business objectives.
• Lead front-end engineering design (FEED) and execution of capital projects (minor and major).
• Manage the full lifecycle of projects from conceptual studies to handover, ensuring technical quality, scope control, and documentation.
• Oversee all aspects of plant modifications, change management processes, and engineering configuration control.
• Develop the department's business plan, operating budget, and performance monitoring systems.
• Promote and enforce high HSE standards across all engineering and project-related activities.
• Serve as ROMS Element Champion for EL-04 (Management of Change) and EL-05 (Engineering Design).
• Act as PSM Element Champion for Process Safety Information (PSI), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Management of Change (MOC), Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR), and Trade Secrets.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Operations Director to support evolving business needs

QUALIFICATIONS
What makes you remarkable?
Essential requirements for this role:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or equivalent).
- Postgraduate qualifications in engineering management, process safety, or project management (preferred)
- Several years previous experience in the LNG or hydrocarbon processing industries, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position
- LNG process systems and production scheduling
- Plant automation and control systems, especially DCS
- Engineering and control system software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, PI, AutoCAD, DCS platforms)
- Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems like SAP for asset management, budgeting, and procurement
Desirable:
- Project development and execution
- Process safety and regulatory compliance
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement safety, environmental, and asset integrity programs in line with regulatory standards
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel and Word for reporting and data analysis
- Knowledge of specialized operational software used for Project Management, Process Management, safety tracking, and inventory management
- Fluent in English (written and verbal) is required
- Proficiency in Spanish or French is an asset
