Role Summary: The Carpenter is a member of the maintenance team responsible for constructing, repairing, and installing building structures and fixtures made from wood and other materials in an industrial and manufacturing environment.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Plan, layout, and perform a wide variety of complicated carpentry work to drawings, instructions, and blue prints.
  • Measure, cut, and shape wood, plastic, and other materials as needed using a variety of hand & power tools.
  • Constructing building fixtures, structures, inside trim, sheetrock, framing walls, tiling, building stairs, handing doors, installing windows, etc.
  • Work in a team environment with or without assistance from other carpenters and/or construction laborers.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by observing and following all safety standards and procedures; complying with OSHA and General Electric standards.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent education (GED)
  • 2 years of carpentry experience including but not limited to:
    • framing walls, tiling, constructing stairs, hanging doors, installing doors & windows, hanging sheetrock, and installing counter tops & cabinets.
  • Ability to work from drawings and schematic diagrams, read and interpret complex technical manuals and materials, and use shop math.
  • Ability to work with associated power tools and measuring equipment.
  • Requires experience with the constructing, repairing, and installation methods used in carpentry and construction projects.
  • This is a 2nd shift work opportunity.

Eligibility Requirements:
  • Ability to lift, move, and manipulate fixtures and hardware up to 40 lbs. (with or without reasonable accommodations).
  • Ability to work in confined areas, work off ladders, platforms, and heights.

Desired Characteristics:
  • Graduation from a Vocational High School program and/or an accredited program specializing in carpentry.
  • 5 years of carpentry experience including but not limited to:
    • framing walls, tiling, constructing stairs, hanging doors, installing doors & windows, hanging sheetrock, and installing counter tops & cabinets.
  • Experience working in an industrial and manufacturing environment.
  • Familiar with industrial and Massachusetts regulations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safety rules in an industrial setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possess strong mechanical abilities.
  • Solid understanding of computers & technology along with the willingness to use application software and troubleshoot problems.
