JOB DESCRIPTION

This role involves independently performing MIG welding, grinding, and repairing of wind tower sections while following build schedules and safety regulations. Candidates should have relevant welding experience, attention to detail, and physical capability to work in a fast-paced, industrial environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow instructions from supervisors to move Wind Tower sections, set up and operate MIG welders, and complete daily build schedules.
  • Weld, grind, and repair Wind Tower sections to prepare them for Quality Inspection.
  • Repair all weld defects as identified by Quality Inspectors.
  • Perform most work independently; essential tools and welding equipment are provided, but maintenance and accountability are the employee's responsibility.
  • Work efficiently to ensure timely delivery of error-free products.
  • Clamp, grind, tack-weld, or bolt components into position prior to welding.
  • Identify and communicate maintenance or product issues to departmental supervision.
  • Comply with all NOV Company and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


FACILITY/GROUP SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively participate in department safety programs and demonstrate safe work practices.
  • Follow all OSHA safety regulations and consistently wear required PPE.
  • Embrace Lean Manufacturing principles and actively support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must possess a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of MIG welding experience on wind tower sections preferred; entry-level candidates with training may be considered.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or fabrication environment is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints.
  • Forklift experience is a plus.
  • OSHA 10-hour safety training is a plus.

  • Proficient in reading labels, safety guidelines, and work instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Willingness to comply with all safety protocols.
  • Adaptable and open to cross-training.
  • Capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working in a factory setting with variable temperatures.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, push/pull, and perform repetitive motions for up to 12 hours per day.
