HVAC/Energy Management Systems Technician I
The Department of Administration's (Admin) Division of Facilities Management and Property Services is seeking an HVAC/Energy Management Systems Technician I to join the team. Facilities Management (FM) maintains and operates approximately 53 buildings which include the State House, Capitol Complex Office Buildings, the Governor's Mansion and other buildings in the Columbia area. In this role you will provide technical services in the monitoring, adjusting and controlling of facility energy management systems including but not limited to Johnson Controls Metasys and Honeywell Delta 1000, 1500, 2000 and Excel 5000 systems in accordance with establish policies and procedures to support Facilities Management in the maintenance of building equipment. Answers calls and enters work order requests in the work order system.
Responsibilities of the HVAC/Energy Management Systems Technician I:
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A high school diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of experience or any equivalent combination of technical school and experience in the installation, repair, monitoring and recording of energy management devices and building automation equipment.

Responsibilities of the HVAC/Energy Management Systems Technician I:
- Monitor, adjust and control the facility energy management systems including but not limited to Johnson Controls Metasys and Honeywell Delta 1000, 1500, 2000 and Excel 5000 systems.
- Complete assigned maintenance, repair and renovation HVAC tasks to minimize unexpected and premature equipment failures in accordance with established policies, procedures and good work practices. Enter and distribute work order requests into the notification system.
- Perform immediate repairs on energy management systems faulty control devices as needed to ensure HVAC equipment is operating to established efficient and effective operating guidelines. Work with other various trades to complete assigned tasks.
- Respond to service requests, which may include travel to the building site and taking corrective actions required to resolve the issue.
- Utilize the plant maintenance phone app as provided by Admin to record all daily assigned work order entries, to ensure that accurate records are maintained on how time and materials are utilized, and also to capture all time worked during the day.
- When on-call, perform after-hours monitoring and control of building equipment as necessary.
- Identify equipment, material, supplies and training needed to ensure that necessary resources are available to complete work tasks and to improve efficiency, effectiveness and safety in completing assigned tasks.
- Keep supervisor and all other associated team members informed about the current condition of building management systems and all other equipment these systems monitor and control.

Additional Requirements:
- General knowledge of building systems operations including fire alarm reporting.
- Knowledge of power tools, gauges, meters and test equipment.
- Working knowledge of heating and air conditioning equipment and electronic computers and peripheral equipment.
- The position requires the incumbent to possess a valid Class "D" Driver's License.
- Must possess and practice very good written and oral communication skills.
- Individual will be trained on the job site in the monitoring, adjusting and controlling of facility energy management systems including but not limited to Johnson Controls Metasys, Tridium and Honeywell Delta 1000, 1500, 2000 and Excel 5000 systems.
- Capable of answering and entering of work order calls and emails into the work order system.
- Position requires work during inclement weather and emergency conditions, 37.5 hours/week, subject to 24 hours/day off duty calls & participation in on-call program on rotating basis.
