With over 70 years of operating experience, Primoris Power Delivery services include engineering and design, installation and maintenance, material and equipment procurement, repair of electrical transmission, distribution, substation, wireless communication, and storm restoration. Our experience ranges from small engineering and consulting projects to multi-million dollar turn-key distribution, substation, and transmission line programs.
Edison is currently seeking a Director of Operations for the Midwest. The Director of Operations will have six to eight direct reports and has a geographic territory that includes: MI, IA, MN and CO.
This division provides construction and maintenance services to the electrical utility industry (including large Investor Owned, Electric Cooperatives, and Municipal Electric Providers). The primary services provided are in Overhead and Underground Electrical Distribution construction and maintenance. Some light Transmission services, Street Light Maintenance services, civil construction services in support of electrical infrastructure, and targeted EPC services are also offered via MSA contracts as well as project bid opportunities. This division also engages in significant storm restoration activities for both existing on-system customers as well as external (off-system) customers throughout the central and eastern US.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Safety: responsible for ensuring that the workforce meets or exceeds segment / corporate performance targets as well as customer expectations regarding safety. Ensure that all events are thoroughly investigated, root causes identified, corrective actions are developed and implemented, effectiveness reviews are completed, and all events communicated within the organization. Responsible for driving operational audits to plan and holding subordinates responsible for meeting expectations.
- Quality: responsible for ensuring work complies with internal work methods and processes as well as customer's design and construction specifications. Responsible for minimizing rework and impacts of customer damage claims. Accountable for maximizing customer quality performance audit scores.
- Financial: responsible for driving productivity, effectively managing costs (both direct and indirect), and ensuring effective equipment utilization to achieve Operating Income goals and objectives. Assist with budget development, financial forecasts, development and review of project bids, MSA contract development and negotiation, invoice review and approval, and timely collection of accounts receivables.
- Business Development & Customer Relations: assist with the growth of new business and expanding new services with existing and prospective customers within the division's geographic footprint. Assist with maintaining and strengthening relationships with division customers.
- Union Liaison: responsible for maintaining good standing relationships for current IBEW union agreements.
- Estimating: will provide oversite to estimator(s) for new opportunities. This includes presentations to leadership on bid reviews regarding margin strategy, risk analysis, and productions.
- Fleet: responsible for all equipment and tooling. This would include utilization, specialized requests, and safe operations of equipment.
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Business Management, Construction Management, or Project Management.
- Minimum 10 years' experience in the Electrical Utility environment required with a preference of 5 years in an advanced leadership position in the electric utility construction and maintenance business sector.
- Must have the ability to travel 33% of the time to visit various work locations, client offices, and internal locations.
- Have strong union experience to manage daily work activities and safety oversight.
- Familiarity with financial reporting software and production tracking systems.
- Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must have demonstrated leadership ability leading remote and diverse workgroups.
- Must have ability and drive to develop teams and subsequent processes to align with client workflows and new opportunities.
- Must have the ability to effectively and collaboratively work with peers and support organizations.
- Must be able to manage time effectively and effectively prioritize dynamically changing situations and deadlines.
- Must present a positive and professional image when representing the company with existing and prospective customers.
