We are looking for a Software Development Manager to be part of our development group located in Austin, TX. In this role, you will help to build and lead highly effective software development teams as they design, develop and maintain the award winning DeltaV Distributed Control System. DeltaV is the state of the art, flagship distributed process control system used by many of the top companies in chemical, life sciences and energy industries. It consists of a variety of rich web applications used for engineering and operating a process control system. Successful applicants would be encouraged to develop the next generation DeltaV system. In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
  • Recruit and onboard outstanding developers, testers, and others based on team and organization needs
  • Foster high-performing scrum teams by providing coaching and feedback
  • Empower team members to experiment and speak openly by creating a safe and transparent environment and positive relationships
  • Evaluate developer performance, using observation and guidance from the team and driving it through the goal setting and performance review process
  • Collaborate with scrum leaders, architects, and Agile Release Train leadership to eliminate impediments and support team efficiency
  • Engage in the department's ongoing improvement efforts and establish standard methodologies
  • Participate in creation and refinement of product requirements, architectural enablers and other deliverables
  • Keep knowledgeable about tools, methods and technologies relevant to developing software products
  • Encourage innovative thinking and the development of new intellectual property

For This Role You Will Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related STEM field and 7+ years of relevant experience OR a master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related STEM field and 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • Passion for team building and previous experience in management or people leadership roles
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and ability to use communication tools effectively
  • Strong organization skills and ability to multi-task and be able to prioritize and balance many activities to adjust quickly in a dynamic environment
  • A background in understanding the technologies, tools, and processes in development, testing and maintenance of software systems
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours to collaborate with both local and remote sites
  • Ability to travel occasionally including internationally
  • Legal authorization to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
  • Knowledge and experience in the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • Experience developing, deploying, and maintaining software applications
  • Familiarity with object-oriented software analysis, design and implementation
  • Knowledge in software deployment for both on-premises and cloud installations
  • Experience with DeltaV or related distributed control system products or technologies
