Job Description

GE Aerospace Research is looking for an innovative Fall 2025 intern to help shape the Future of Flight! We are exploring new advancements around quantum computing benchmarking for problems relevant to Aerospace applications.

Our internship is aimed at experimentation for real aerospace problems, with publication targeted at the completion of the session's work.

An ideal candidate should possess expertise in quantum computing theory and practice, with proficiency in using quantum programming frameworks such as Qiskit, PennyLane, and others. They should have a strong understanding of methods for evaluating and comparing algorithm performance, as well as the ability to design computational experiments for objective analysis. Additionally, candidates must be capable of presenting their work effectively to audiences with varying levels of technical knowledge. During the internship, interns will collaborate closely with a senior technical team member, who will provide guidance and mentorship to help structure and execute their work. Regular meetings will ensure a highly collaborative and supportive environment.

Qualifications/Requirements
  • Current enrollment in a full-time MS or PhD program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or related fields with a focus on quantum computing at an ABET accredited university.
  • Permanent legal authorization to work in the US is required. This role is restricted to U.S. persons. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
  • Must be available for full time (40-hour work schedule M-F 8a-5p) September - December 2025.
  • Minimum GPA 3.0 / 4.0 scale

  • Willingness to work from the GE Aerospace Research office in Niskayuna, NY

The pay range for this position is $1,000-$2,000 USD weekly. The specific weekly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location. GE provides travel reimbursement and housing stipend for qualified interns.
