The Opportunity:

The Land Engineering Agency (LEA) is seeking a high-performing Technical Advisor to join our expert Defence team. This role is crucial in shaping the engineering direction of projects, driving innovation, and ensuring technical excellence within land systems engineering.

As a strategic and technical leader, you will influence project outcomes, provide subject matter expertise in configuration management, and represent KBR in engagements with senior Defence and industry stakeholders.

This role operates at the intersection of engineering leadership and configuration control. As a Principal Technical Professional, you will independently apply advanced engineering practices to solve complex problems, support strategic decision-making, and ensure best-practice configuration management across Defence platforms and projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Apply advanced engineering techniques to solve complex configuration and data management challenges.
  • Lead and influence configuration control activities in support of Defence capability assurance and sustainment.
  • Represent KBR and LEA at key technical forums and defence working groups.
  • Provide expert technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and designers.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of configuration management strategies, frameworks, and policy compliance.
  • Act as a technical ambassador, fostering collaboration between teams and driving continuous improvement in engineering processes.
  • Deliver measurable outcomes across assigned responsibilities including scope, staffing, and budget.
  • Support strategic program objectives through effective configuration governance and lifecycle control.
  • Other duties as directed.

As the ideal candidate you will bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 7 years' relevant engineering experience, preferably within Defence or complex systems environments.
  • Strong understanding of configuration and data management principles across the system lifecycle.
  • Experience with Defence technical regulations, engineering frameworks, and asset management systems (e.g. MIL-STD, ASDEFCON, CASG processes).
  • Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional technical teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Membership (or eligibility) with a recognised engineering professional body (e.g. Engineers Australia).
  • NV1 Security Clearance is essential.

All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active NV1 Defence Security Clearance. Only candidates holding a NV1 Clearance or above should apply.
