Job Purpose
- The role will develop, maintain and enforce the pricing strategy, discounting policy including pricing DoA, embed operational guidelines. The role will work within the country marketing teams with connection to the Global pricing team.
- Owns a deep understanding of customer (including industrial and channel), consumer and is the voice of the customer and consumer insights & intelligence within the PU
- Single face for BP to manage PU/market research agencies & coordinate global activities including Castrol & CVPE
Key Accountabilities:
Pricing
- Develop and optimize pricing strategy / rules of the game and define collaboratively with all functions SMART initiatives to close these performance gaps to enhance brand, customer, country and PU performance. (This should underpin annual sales and marketing activity)
- Annually review the price positioning of a predefined "basket of goods" using analytical tools & customer insight data to validate competitive pricing at consumer and trade price list level in all major channels. a) validate with Sales and Marketing to deliver right value to the customer groups, b) To feed into Price lists and product launches
- Monitor the pricing waterfall implementation and pricing DoA across all channels and sectors with PU a) Identify potential areas for improvement / capability with local sales teams. B) Recommend potential interventions and maintain a pipeline of options c) Recommend potential refinement to global pricing tools, analytics or discount scale rates to be included in the annual price review. D) Own and lead the deployment of the appropriate pricing waterfall tool to aid sales in creating pricing offers ready for system and management approval e) monitor and report to the central team the use of discounts and rebates within the region
- Supervise competitive pricing information from market tracking (inline with BP Legal and Competition law frameworks) inline with global processes to inform strategy and price interventions only once agreed with Global Head of Pricing and Regional head of pricing + Sales Directors
- Mentor country sales and marketing teams on value based principals and approaches for products or services in preparation for negotiations or launches
- Input to OD&I process and execution of new marketing offers from Regional, Brand or CVO-IMO teams to assist in price setting and launch price strategy execution.
Insight
- Responsible for leading the delivery of insight strategy landing in PU marketing
- Responds to CVPE research and will work across Castrol and broader BP/CVPE requirements
- Facilitates, both Castrol and in country CVPE, the core global studies of overall market, customer satisfaction, brand health and pricing as a critical component of strategic planning in terms of metrics and contextual thinking and this is then linked to core activation in market for yearly evaluation (action planning) with the global tracking studies. Contribute to WILG evaluation.
- Provide B2B and B2C insights, data & research for regional marketing strategy & projects and undertake ad hoc research projects on specific marketing initiatives over and above BH and Heartbeat eg IWS channel insights and buyer behaviors.
- Coordinate research activities and providing actionable customer and consumer insights and intelligence gained from key customer indicators to influence decision-making processes.
- Responsible for selective growth unit projects
People management
- Act as MKTG leadership team member and support LT to transform MKTG team to be more effective and competitive
- Driver performance culture of the team and act as role model as Senior Leader
- Prioritize within team to increase the output of overall investment
Requirements:
Education
- University degree or equivalent experience in Marketing related field
- MBA or post graduate degree desirable
Experience
- 10 years or above working experience with:
- Significant business experience in Marketing Activation with a consistent track record of delivery spanning operational and strategic roles. Sales experience would be a plus.
- Experience on product offer, innovation and country launches with local insights.
- Track record of effective leadership - of teams and / or networks - with necessary credibility to influence the country sales and marketing teams.
