Function description
As a Projects Buyer, you will support complex, large-scale projects by managing the procurement of materials, goods, and services across various technical categories. You will be responsible for securing the best commercial and contractual terms while ensuring timely delivery and alignment with project specifications and company standards.
- Oversee the end-to-end procurement process: purchase order administration, RFQ/RFP issuance, bid evaluation, and order placement.
- Engage with internal stakeholders to gather and clarify technical and operational requirements.
- Evaluate and negotiate supplier quotations to ensure the best value for the project.
- Ensure timely and complete delivery of goods and related documentation in line with project scopes.
- Expedite orders and resolve any delays or issues in collaboration with suppliers and internal teams.
- Process and verify supplier invoices and oversee variation orders or claims, when applicable.
- Conduct supplier market research, including pricing, performance, capacity, and compliance.
- Prepare procurement summary reports and bid comparisons for review by internal management.
- Attend supplier site visits and industry events to stay informed on market trends.
Requirements
- A technical degree (MBO+ or HBO level), preferably in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
- At least 5 years of procurement experience in a project-based environment, e.g., offshore, shipbuilding, or petrochemical industries.
- Solid knowledge of technical standards and specifications relevant to engineering projects.
- A NEVI 1 certificate or equivalent procurement qualification.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (such as Oracle or SAP) and Microsoft Office tools.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A hands-on, proactive attitude and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting.
- Good command of written and spoken English.
- Experience in IT or facility-related procurement is a plus.
