JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood (trading locally as WOOD KSS LLP) is currently looking for a Senior Technical Translator to join our team in Atyrau, Kazakhstan (KZ passport holders).

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides accurate, timely and stylistically appropriate translation on various subjects from the source language into the target language
• Contacts the terminology and reference staff to clarify difficulties arising from texts submitted for translation and other specialist staff to discuss the most suitable translation of a term
• Checks/proof-reads texts translated by other in-house and freelance translators prior to delivery to the client
• Provides interpretation support during meetings, presentations, etc., in-house and in the client premises
• Plans and coordinates work of small groups of translators, assists Lead Translator in work planning and scheduling as well as prioritizing workload
• Contributes to creating and enriching an in-house terminology database
• Contributes to developing and coaching other translators in a less senior role
• Carries out research activities to gain a better understanding of the nature of the text he/she is translating at any time. This will typically involve desk research and use of the internet, in which the employee will be expected to be able to locate quickly and utilize material relating to the subject matter being translated
• Performs any other tasks as required by management to facilitate the smooth running of the translation activities

QUALIFICATIONS

• Communication Skills
• Excellent organisational, communication (English, Kazakh and Russian) and administrative skills
• Undergraduate degree
• Skills typically acquired through 5 years experience of work with engineering companies
• Translator's Certificate/Diploma
