Essential Job Functions
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY:
Two years of experience assisting in the set up and operation of auger, bucket, rotary and diamond core drills, one year of which must have been in connection with grouting of foundations of dams or other large-scale* infrastructure facilities.

*large-scale infrastructure facilities refer to major construction projects or physical structures designed to support essential public or private sector operations. Examples include bridges, power plants, water treatment facilities, transportation hubs, tunnels, large industrial sites, and similar complex civil or structural projects involving heavy construction and foundational work.

LICENSE:
A valid California Class C Driver License is required before hire. A valid California Class A Driver License with water tank endorsement may be required for some positions.

A valid certificate as a crane operator** from a certifying entity that is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), for the specific type of crane to perform job-related duties, is required for appointment to positions in this class.

General Information: This Training & Experience (T&E) Questionnaire is a self-assessment. You will respond to questions about your experience related to having acquired the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the Driller position. 3. Professional/technical knowledge of the methods and procedures involved in drilling and related operations sufficient to employ proper work techniques in areas including groundwater, reclaimed water, and potable well redevelopment, observation-well clean out, pressure grouting, down-hole logging operations with geologists for observational and sample recovery purposes, construction, flood control procedures, and maintenance work.
4. Professional/technical knowledge of soil and rock conditions at job sites sufficient to identify hazards under varying conditions and adjust drilling operations based on changing geological conditions.
5. Problem Solving/Decisiveness - Evaluates information and situations to make logical and effective decisions. Able to identify and analyze problems (e.g., assessing unusual hole conditions such as traffic control, power lines, underground utilities affecting drilling equipment; recovering lost and/or damaged drilling equipment during projects; repairing damages to wells); exercise good judgment by making sound and well-informed decisions; apply critical thinking; consider alternatives and reach conclusions leading to actions that are in line with organizational, work, and safety objectives as well as regulatory rules and guidelines during pressured/time-sensitive situations while drilling projects are in progress.
