Job Summary
As an Assistant Fire Chief, you'll lead key areas of fire protection and fire fighting services, managing daily operations, training programs, and safety inspections. You'll support the Fire Services Chief in strategic planning, policy development, and emergency response leadership. This role offers an impactful opportunity to shape firefighting response readiness, fire prevention initiatives, drive public safety education, and command critical incidents.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations of the department, including supervision of firefighters and staff, planning training drills, and ensuring proper maintenance of equipment and vehicles.
- Assist the Fire Services Chief in developing and implementing long-term strategic plans for fire protection across the company.
- Plan, develop, review, implement, and evaluate department policies to ensure regulatory compliance and operational excellence.
- Receive and disseminate guidance, regulations, and procedures from the Fire Services Chief to department personnel.
- Assign and schedule firefighters and staff for operational tasks, training exercises, and fire inspection responsibilities.
- Facilitate fire prevention education, including program planning, administration, and supervision of outreach activities.
- Review construction plans in collaboration with engineers and provide fire prevention consultation and technical support.
- Conduct recurring proficiency training and oversee a comprehensive on-the-job training program across all functional firefighting areas.
- Identify base-level fire service deficiencies and coordinate necessary corrective actions with the Fire Services Chief and external agencies.
- Lead development of emergency response protocols for natural disasters and other crises.
- Perform fire safety inspections to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Act as on-scene commander during fire/crash emergencies until formally relieved by the Fire Services Chief.
- Carry out public outreach efforts to promote fire prevention and community awareness.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental operations and public safety goals.
Basic Qualifications (Required Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in fire services.
- Must possess certifications from one or more accredited entities: DoD, IFSAC, or ProBoard.
- Fire Officer III certification
- Fire Instructor II certification
- Fire Inspector II certification
- A level of proficiency in English, both written and verbal, is required in accordance with the position.
- Must have a valid vehicle driver's license and maintain its validity for the duration of employment
- Fluency in Albanian and possessing an unrestricted right to work and reside in Kosovo.
