JOB FAMILY SUMMARY PURPOSE:
Under the general supervision of the Supervisor of Mechanical Maintenance, performs maintenance functions on electronic equipment and control systems at power plants.
EDUCATION:
- High school Diploma or equivalent and an Associate's degree in an Electronics field or an Electronics Certification (i.e., ISCET, CET) preferred.
- Two (2) years' experience in a related field performing troubleshooting and repair of electronic systems.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Working knowledge of electrical and electronic equipment such as distributed control systems (Mark VI, Ovation system a plus), PLC-based control systems, HMI systems (Intellution FIX-32 system a plus), electronic instruments and controllers, motors, switchgear, multimeters, signal generators, oscilloscopes, power supplies, IBM compatible PCs, and other related equipment.
- Experience in gas turbine boilers, steam turbine-generators, and auxiliary equipment control systems maintenance is preferred.
- Available to work long and irregular hours as necessary.
- Must be proficient in the use of hand and power tools related to electronic maintenance, such as soldering iron, power drill, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with officers, managers, supervisors, fellow employees, representatives of the agencies, outside consultants, and the public.
EXPERIENCE:
2 years or more of experience.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Utilizes the following electronic testing equipment to perform the various required tests: Multimeter, Oscilloscope, Frequency Meter, Signal Generator, and various other calibration instruments.
- Calibrates, repairs, modifies, and configures analog and digital control systems by utilizing various electronic testing equipment.
- Troubleshoots, repairs, and calibrates instruments and transducers used to transmit air, gas, water, and steam flows, pressures, levels, and temperature by reading, interpreting, and analyzing the electronic testing equipment, technical drawings, and literature.
- Troubleshoots, repairs, and calibrates supervisory instrument systems monitoring vibration, speed, expansion, temperature, flow, extraction streams, and output recording devices for megawatts of gas or steam-powered turbine generator sets by use of electronic testing equipment.
- Troubleshoots, repairs, calibrates, and programs multipoint recorders which monitor a variety of plant and system conditions.
- Troubleshoots and repairs/replace electrical components such as motors, relays, lighting, alarm systems, and other common devices including replacement of conduit, wiring, bearings, etc.
- Performs system administration tasks for distributed control systems.
- Perform preventive and routine maintenance on various pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic systems.
- Troubleshoot, repair, replace, install, or modify as needed existing and new instrumentation and control equipment.
- Calibrate switches, transmitters, controllers, receivers, repeaters, boosters, valves, positioners, actuators, and other electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment
- Complies with all applicable Company policies, procedures, and code of ethics as well as all applicable governmental laws and regulations including employment, safety, and environmental standards and regulations.
- Performs other related tasks that are not included but are within the context of duties defined.
