About the Role
As a Senior Energy Market Modeller, you'll play a pivotal role in interpreting market dynamics and developing models that support trading, portfolio management, and origination activities. This is a high-impact role where your understanding of energy market fundamentals will be key to guiding strategic decisions.
You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, including analytics, trading, and IT, to ensure our modelling tools are robust, relevant, and aligned with market realities. While technical skills are valued, we're looking for someone who brings strong commercial acumen and deep market knowledge, in addition to coding expertise.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of market models across short- and long-term horizons.
- Partner with trading, portfolio and asset development teams to support modelling for physical and contract markets.
- Monitor market outcomes and identify emerging trends using automated tools.
- Extract and apply key assumptions from AEMO and third-party sources.
- Communicate complex insights clearly to stakeholders across the business.
- Mentor junior analysts and foster alignment across modelling approaches.
About You
You're someone who thrives in dynamic environments and enjoys translating market complexity into meaningful insights. Your strengths lie in understanding how energy markets operate and using that knowledge to support commercial decision-making. Specifically, you bring:
- A solid grasp of energy market fundamentals, particularly in electricity and/or gas.
- Experience applying time series or optimisation models to real-world market scenarios.
- Proven ability to lead projects and manage analytical processes from concept to delivery.
- Familiarity with tools such as Python, SQL, and Excel, and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to distil complex modelling outcomes into clear, actionable insights.
- A collaborative mindset and a passion for mentoring and supporting others within the team
