Legal Counsel

JOB PURPOSE
Provide legal advice and guidance to the Company's Management and all divisions/departments, in line with the applicable legislation, the corporate strategy and under supervision of the Associate General Counsel, in order to optimally resolve legal issues, mitigate legal risks and support Management's decision making.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Legal Consultation
Manage disputes, legal cases and lawsuits.
Provide legal advice to the Company's Management and all Divisions/ Departments and prepare memos with recommendations and actions to be undertaken, for all legal matters raised, so that the right legal action can be undertaken.
Draft and review all types of national and international agreements and templates.
Draft Legal Documentation
Draft and review legal documentation and contracts, under supervision of the Associate General Counsel
Manage external counsel.
Draft legal opinions on legislation related to the Company to ensure that relevant and up-to-date information on legislation is always available to all relevant stakeholders.
Legal Representation
Represent the Company in courts, arbitrations and other legal forums.
Legal Research
Perform legal research on legislation relevant to the Company in order to stay up to date on all relevant legislation.
Supervision
Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective section objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in law
Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills
7 years of relevant experience either as in-house counsel or in law firm with exposure to different aspects of law.
Good writing and communication skills
Able to work independently
Experience in the Oil and Gas industry is preferred.
Professional Certifications
Qualified Lawyer.
