General Purpose
Manage the development, delivery, review and maintenance of training programs for craft personnel across eleven thermal plants, ensuring compliance with and effective collaboration on four different union contracts. Provides advice and counsel to management and client organizations. Conducts special studies and analyses, develops alternatives, presents recommendations to management and influences management decisions. Researches, analyzes, develops and implements new strategies, programs, and/or processes in response to changing internal and external conditions.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the mid-level position include the following:
• Plan, develop and deliver training programs using a variety of methods including classroom training, web-based training, demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences and workshops.
• Analyze, recommend and/or implement new training programs and improvements to existing procedures where they are interdependent.
• Conduct special studies, investigations, and analyses.
• Develop alternatives and present recommendations to management and influence management decisions.
• Research, analyze, develop, and implement new strategies, programs, and/or processes in response to changing internal and external conditions.
• Communicate with and educate management and other stakeholders on industry, legal, and business changes.
• Proactively identify issues and implement problem solving strategies with plant staff, committees, and management.
• Provide recommendations to appropriate management groups.
• Provide opportunities for professional development, improved organizational effectiveness and productivity and work related training by planning, developing, and delivering a comprehensive employee development strategy that reflect the needs of employees.
• Lead needs assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of training and development programs.
• Investigate and implement innovative and creative training solutions, materials, methods, and programs to meet the development needs of the College community.
• Lead and coordinate training requirements with appropriate stakeholders, which may include the Department of Labor, Veterans Administration, local labor unions, and company labor relations department.
• Develop, implement and track progress of generation apprenticeships and other training programs.
In addition, the responsibilities of the Sr. Level include:
• Lead the planning, developing and delivering of training programs using a variety of methods including classroom training, web-based training, demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences and workshops.
Requirements
Requirements for the Mid-level position include the following:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, Business, Industrial Relations, or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A minimum of five years of directly related experience.
• Project management and leadership skills, including ability to work as a team member.
• Experience with presenting and conducting training sessions.
• Knowledge of research, analysis, and consulting techniques, federal, state, and local government laws and regulations.
• Research and analysis skills including ability to obtain relevant data, evaluate complex situations, develop creative alternatives, provide recommendations, and negotiate and influence outcomes.
• Project design skills including development of interventions, processes, or new or modified programs to meet customer needs.
• Proficient with the use of personal computers to gather, analyze, and summarize data.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills involving the ability to establish trust, maintain confidence and understand social behavior and interactions.
• Ability to work with all organizational levels, to influence actions and negotiate outcomes.
• Travel may be required up to 20% of time.
In addition, requirements of the Sr. level include:
• A minimum of seven years of directly related experience.
• Knowledge of established operational practices and procedures for thermal generation.
• Experience in creating or developing training programs for an industrial operational organization.
• Project management skills include the ability to lead formal and ad hoc teams, to develop and implement training curriculum, schedules and timelines, and deliver on commitments.
• Project management and leadership skills, including ability to work as a team member.
• Experience with presenting and conducting training sessions.
• Knowledge of research, analysis, and consulting techniques, federal, state, and local government laws and regulations.
