Job Title: District HVAC Maintenance Assistant

Reports To: Director of Facilities; District HVAC Maintenance

Receives Guidance From: Director of Facilities; District HVAC Maintenance

Overtime Status: Compliant with position, salary, and FLSA regulations

Job Purpose: Help maintain all HVAC systems and keep in good working order

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Analyze blueprints, schematics, and drawings for the purpose of identifying the location of new and existing HVAC systems and determining the efficient installation of additional systems
  • Clean air conditioning and heating units (e.g. coils, condensation pans, drain lines, filters, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring units are operating efficiently, correctly and within safety guidelines
  • Diagnose causes of problems and/or failures in HVAC systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair and/or replacement needs
  • Maintain maintenance records as required
  • Order and maintain parts needed to repair and maintain HVAC equipment
  • Manage relationship with all major vendor accounts
  • Properly maintain and safeguard district assets
  • Prioritize and organize work orders and meet all deadlines
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Maintain and accept responsibility for any district owned fixed asset item assigned to employee and ensure appropriate use by following district policies for acceptable use
  • Undergo periodic evaluations according to state and board policy procedures
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Regular, dependable, in person attendance is an essential function of this position
  • Perform such other and not specifically enumerated duties as may be requested by the Board of Education, superintendent, administrator, director or established by district policy
  • Read, understand, and abide by Employee Conduct Policy, GAB, all other district, state and federal policies, and procedures and protocols as established by RCSD and the Mississippi Educator Code of Conduct

Qualifications:
  • Possess high school diploma or equivalent, formal training in HVAC
  • Prior experience in HVAC and refridgeration
  • Must be a self starter and not require direct supervision
  • Ability to lift and/or carry moderate weight (15-50 pounds), sit, stand, walk, climb stairs/ladders, reach, repetitive hand motions, hear, speak, some travel within the District and occasionally outside the district/county, may experience prolonged and irregular work hours, and work with frequent interruptions
  • Must pass background check administered by district
