Position Summary:

The General Foreman - Gas/Chemical is responsible for leading the installation, testing, and commissioning of hazardous production material (HPM) gas and chemical distribution systems for advanced semiconductor facilities.

This position oversees multiple foremen and large craft crews, ensuring all work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with OSHA, SEMI, and client standards. The role requires deep knowledge of ultra-high purity (UHP) piping systems, chemical bulk distribution, and cleanroom protocols, along with strong leadership to manage labor, schedules, and field coordination.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and direct multiple foremen and craft crews (pipefitters, welders, orbital welders, and gas/chemical technicians).
  • Plan and allocate manpower, materials, and equipment to meet production goals and milestones.
  • Enforce strict compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926, SEMI standards (S2, S6, F15), and hazardous gas/chemical safety protocols.
  • Lead daily toolbox talks, JSAs, and field inspections; initiate corrective actions as needed.
  • Manage permit-to-work systems (hot work, confined space, LOTO) related to gas/chemical distribution.
  • Review and interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, and semiconductor tool hook-up schematics.
  • Oversee pressure and leak testing (helium mass spectrometer, nitrogen, hydrostatic, etc.) and verify results to project/client standards.
  • Ensure quality documentation is completed, including weld maps, test reports, and turnover packages.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC and commissioning teams to close punch lists and achieve first-pass quality metrics.
  • Provide daily progress reports, manpower forecasts, and look-ahead schedules to project management.
  • Represent CAM in client walk-downs, audits, and cross-trade coordination meetings.

Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of industrial or high-tech construction experience, with strong focus on hazardous gas and chemical systems.
  • 3-5+ years in a supervisory role (Foreman, General Foreman, or Superintendent).
  • Strong knowledge of UHP piping, HPM systems, OSHA, SEMI, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, and cleanroom system schematics.
  • Proven track record managing multi-trade crews across multiple work fronts.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • OSHA 30 required; NCCER or equivalent certifications preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Work performed in semiconductor cleanroom, chemical storage, and active construction environments.
  • Physically capable of climbing, lifting, kneeling, and performing repetitive motions as required.
  • Frequent walking and inspections across the site, including exposure to noise, height, and variable weather.
  • Must be able to wear PPE (respirators, chemical suits, gloves, face shields, etc.) for gas/chemical work.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, off-shifts, weekends, and emergency call-outs as required.
