Water Treatment Manager

The purpose of this position is to provide long-term planning and daily oversight of all water plant and water distribution activities including water quality testing, pump and tank operations, and certified lab activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ø Supervises operators, maintenance, water quality, lab personnel, and water field superintendent by prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, ensuring staff are trained and follow policies and procedures, maintaining a healthy and safe working environment, and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
Ø Monitors and reports water system treatment and distribution data.
Ø Develops and maintains operating procedures for effective and efficient water distribution throughout the system.
Ø Maintains communications with peers at connected water systems.
Ø Maintains and monitors the lake level model and uses model for decision making.
Ø Develops and maintains SOPs for routine water plant operations.
Ø Develops and reports systems performance indexes to track overall efficiencies of daily operations.
Ø Collaborates with water plant staff annually to develop a 10-year capital needs plan and provides recommendations for operating expenses as part of the annual budget process Assists management staff with water quality and system capacity issues.
Supplemental Functions:

Required Experience
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or related field of study from an accredited college or university, with at least five (5) years of relevant and supervisory experience and demonstrated water treatment knowledge; or the City may consider an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

- Applicable local, state and federal rules and regulations
- Water system hydraulics and water system water quality practices
Licensing and Certifications:
- Valid North Carolina Driver's License
