Position Summary

The ITAC/Energy Management Coordinator (Part-Time) is responsible for the implementation, coordination, and oversight of Monroe County Community College's participation in the U.S. Department of Energy-funded Industrial Training and Assessment Center (ITAC) program. This grant funded role supports MCCC's energy management goals by leading energy audits on campus and in partnership with regional businesses, supervising student involvement in fieldwork, and collaborating with apprenticeship sponsors to integrate energy efficiency practices. The coordinator ensures compliance with federal reporting, while promoting sustainability, workforce development, and experiential learning. Up to 29 hours/week.
Essential Job Functions

  • Coordinate MCCC's role as a subgrantee under the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's DOE-funded ITAC initiative.
  • Conduct and supervise energy audits of MCCC facilities and small to medium-sized manufacturers in the region.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor students in conducting energy assessments using DOE and ITAC protocols.
  • Develop and integrate energy auditing projects into the college's applied science, engineering technology, and apprenticeship curriculum.
  • Work with local apprenticeship sponsors to promote the adoption of energy conservation practices and support the creation of an energy-focused apprenticeship pathway.
  • Ensure compliance with DOE and grant reporting requirements; collect data and submit timely reports in collaboration with UWM ITAC.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and facilities management to identify and implement energy efficiency opportunities on campus.
  • Serve as a liaison between MCCC, UWM, DOE, local industry, and community stakeholders.
  • Support institutional sustainability initiatives and represent MCCC at regional and national ITAC-related meetings or trainings.
  • Contribute to the college's strategic objectives, especially those related to workforce development, experiential learning, and environmental stewardship.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a closely related field.
  • Familiarity with sustainability principles and energy conservation practices
  • Experience in energy auditing, energy efficiency, or facilities management.
  • Must be able to travel locally to partner business sites and travel to out-of-state meetings as needed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree or graduate-level education in Engineering, Energy Systems, Sustainability, or a related discipline.
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Building Operator Certification (BOC), or other relevant credentials.
  • Experience in energy auditing, energy efficiency, or facilities management.
  • Prior experience working in community colleges, workforce development, or grant-funded programs.
  • Experience working with apprenticeships or industry-based training programs.

Employee must communicate with others in person and on the telephone. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
