Internship Description

Background:

'Compute first' approach can accelerate discovery and innovation for energy storage. To advance energy storage research and development understanding charge carrier interactions with electrolytes and ions are essential. This understanding will enable us to design and discover new materials with improved stability and sustainability.

Description of Student Internship:

The interactions of cations with solvents and electrolyte components can be estimated using quantum chemical approaches. Using simple cluster models, we will evaluate ion-electrolyte interactions. We will compute the structure and energetics of cation/anion-solvent model complexes. We will provide the student to access to computing facility and software to perform modeling chemical reactions. We will develop a small database of computed research.

Education and Experience Requirements

Required Skills:

Desired skills are fundamental concepts of chemistry.
Interest to learn computing in Linux/Unix environments.
