THE ROLE
SpaceWorks is seeking an experienced aerospace engineer with a focus in new start aerospace vehicle design to contribute technically as well as manage projects. The internal title of this role will be a Program Manager. Our program managers play a key role alongside senior leadership as we strive to build and maintain professional relationships with government and commercial clients across the aerospace industry.This role is customer facing and will also support business development through writing proposals and quotes to win new business.

A successful candidate will:
- Be well versed in hypersonic aircraft and/or spacecraft performance and mission analysis
- Lead small multidisciplinary teams of technical staff to design complex systems
- Focus on delivering successful project outcomes in regard to schedule, budget, and quality of deliverable
- Exhibit a "can do" and "want to" attitude - bringing an open-minded approach and a bias toward finding solutions
- Have experience managing activities in modeling, simulation, and design of high-speed flight systems including endo-atmospheric, re-entry, and launch systems
A DAY IN THE LIFE
- Monitor and manage multiple projects, which will include developing project milestones, communicate key program metrics, and support customer interactions
- Utilize engineering experience to steer technical vision and provide technical reviews for engineering teams
- Use project management skills to organize budgets, schedules, and program plans to ensure successful project deliverables
- Interact regularly with company's senior leadership to communicate progress, goals, priorities, and resource needs
- Develop technical documentation including proposals, white papers, progress reports, final reports, ICDs, and milestone reviews

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering
- 5+ years of related aerospace industry experience contributing technically as an engineer primarily within concept development, requirements definition, preliminary design, and detailed design.
- 2+ years of experience in the aerospace industry with project leadership, such as managing budgets, schedules, and writing proposals.
- Fundamental understanding of a broad range of aerospace disciplines and their interactions including flight mechanics, structures, propulsion, aerodynamics, flight software, thermal management, and avionics
- Must be a U.S. citizenand be immediately eligible to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
- SKILLS & SOFTWARE:
- Demonstrate strategic and innovative thinking with strong technical leadership skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary, collaborative environment typical of a smallbusiness
- Desire to lead and manage individual contributors
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Expertise with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
- Proficiency with project management software (e.g. Jira, Planner, Project)

- Self-starter with a passion for seeking new business development opportunities and building upon current projects
- Familiarity with U.S. Government contracting and funding opportunities (e.g. SBIR program, BAAs, Sam.gov)
- Earned Value Management System (EVMS) experience
- High level disciplinary experience with multidisciplinary analysis and optimization, aircraft or launch vehicle design
- Experience with SysML
- Smallbusiness experience
